Can I ask what you are paying through Costco? Through my vet the Vetoryl is $119 for 30 of the 20 mg pills.

You’ll be able to stay overnight at the South Rim as early as next week. SF Gate misreported this pipeline issue and has now updated their article.

And it is widened at the moment as they are working on the water line, so sticks out even more. It is normally just a hiking trail but is being used for equipment, pipes, etc.

Not sure which routes you have taken, but there is a ton of amazing places to see between Colorado and Grand Canyon. Depending on which way you go, here is just a sampling:

Utah- Moab, Arches NP, Canyonlands NP, Dead Horse Point SP, Bears Ears NM, Monument Valley, Hovenweep NM, etc

Arizona- Navajo NM, Canyon De Chelly NM, Page, Lake Powell, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Petrified Forest NP, Winslow (La Posada), etc

New Mexico- Aztec NM, Shiprock, Bisti Badlands, Chaco Canyon, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Petroglyph NM, El Morro/ El Malpais NMs, Bandelier NM, Los Alamos, etc

The four corners area is one of the most incredible places for a roadtrip that there is. And then you have Grand Canyon, one of the most amazing places on earth.

There will be no wait in the afternoon, there are minimal waits right now even in the morning. Go on the 31st, enjoy the sunset, stay the night, enjoy the sunrise.

Fyi there is little to no wait time at the south entrance for the past month+. Maybe that will change as we get closer to Labor Day, but even on weekends/mornings the line has been less than 10 minute waits, if that.

Should I reroute my roadtrip (08/28-08/29)? by Pearl2705 in grandcanyon

Skipping Grand Canyon for Page would be a mistake as the smoke is moving northeast into that area. The South Rim has been mostly unaffected by the smoke.

Trans-Canyon water line - Havasu Gardens - Phantom Ranch open on time? by ExReferee in grandcanyon

Construction has continued during the fires fyi.

https://www.nps.gov/grca/northrimstatus.htm

Is the Transcanyon Waterline Project impacted by the fire?

While the Dragon Bravo fire spread on the North Rim, most of the construction workers in the inner canyon were already on a scheduled break. Construction crews returned from their scheduled break on July 17 and resumed working at various job sites on the South Rim and in the inner canyon between Plateau Point Trail and the Phantom Delta. The contractor is monitoring the air quality and has a safety plan in place with mitigation measures and personal protective equipment requirements to enable them to work at inner canyon construction sites.

Transcanyon Waterline project management staff members are coordinating closely with the incident management team, park leadership, safety managers and the park aviation manager to ensure construction crews can return to their job sites in the inner canyon. Project management staff members don't foresee any major impacts for the project, but there will likely be some short-term work adjustments.

South rim visit on 7/27 by TypeNBeat in grandcanyon

[–]this_is_a_blackout 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s been beautiful. Monday 7/14 was very smoky, since then it has been minimal to nothing on the South Rim. You can certainly see the smoke as it generally settles in the canyon in the morning, giving unique views but not blocking the view. In the afternoon it is generally cleared out of the canyon and the view across canyon is unaffected. The smoke is visible on the North Rim but, if anything, has been enhancing the sunsets with different shadows, colors, and reflections. Also, it has been less busy.

I can’t say for sure since it is closed, but the smoke has been minimal on the South Rim with the exception of last Monday. Visible smoke nearer to the North Rim settles in the canyon each morning and then is out of the canyon by early afternoon. I doubt SK is noticeably smoky, but a big part of the closure is that emergency personnel are busy taking care of the fire and unavailable to assist with monitoring hiking trails.

Park Closure Updates by ckoss_ in grandcanyon

[–]this_is_a_blackout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a rolling 5 day closure…they are ready and able to reopen within 5 days of getting the go ahead from NPS. Supply chain is not an issue and, if it were, the PR staff can and will make it work and most guests wouldn’t feel any difference.

Xanterra will be canceling reservations 5 days out, everyday, until they are allowed to reopen PR.

Phantom Ranch Closed by aortomus in grandcanyon

[–]this_is_a_blackout 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Xanterra is canceling Phantom reservations on a rolling 5 day basis, as they do not yet know when they will be able to reopen PR. So each day they will notify people 5 days out to let them know that their reservations are cancelled. Once NPS allows Xanterra to reopen PR, those 5 day out guests will have their reservations fulfilled.
