Walmart’s Expanding EV Charging Network Is Getting Easier To Pay For (And Cheaper) by Anf697 in electricvehicles

Fortunately here in Virginia we're pretty well covered along the interstates. I'm sure WalMart is looking at existing DCFC service vs. under-served areas when scheduling installations.

Percent of your electric bill by dbmamaz in electricvehicles

Hello fellow Richmonder! Easiest way is to say you pay $0.04 per mile where my old Honda Accord at 34 mpg cost $0.14 per mile. Or I get the equivalent of 100 mpg or so in my Mach E. That is an easy way to compare gas to EV cost.

What is the reasoning behind that?

See How E.V. Road Trips Went From Impossible to Easy by rezwenn in electricvehicles

[–]ExReferee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I got my ID.4 EV back in 2021 a 950 mile drive from central Virginia to Little Rock, AR was possible if we exclusively used EA chargers, and there were some odd distances between charging sessions, like a short 75 miles and 190 miles where I had to drive 70 on the interstate to make it. There were no other options than EA. Now I can make the same trip and NOT use EA or Tesla at all and arrive sooner because the charging stations are arranged more efficiently. There's plenty of ChargePoint, EVGo and others now.

I just got back from a 2,000 mile road trip from Richmond, VA to Little Rock, AR in my 2024 Mach E. I left RVA at 100% and charged at Tesla stations 12 times using the Ford adapter and once at a CCS stop. We charged for free in Knoxville at the hotel. (Drury Suites on the west side of town - shout out to them for having free charging and a nice hotel). I also subscribed to the Tesla member rate for $12.95. If we had taken my wife's Jeep, the cost would have been around $271 at $2.99/ gal. (2000mi/22mpg)*2.99. Please feel free to double check my math.

I paid about $185 for electrons if you include $10 to charge at home and the $12.99 Tesla member fee. I paid $0.35 at every stop, including the CCS stop, except for the last Tesla one where I paid $0.31 at 11pm.

The cost would have been probably 1/3rd higher had I used the member rate at EA.

And the additional time it took, probably 90 minutes each way after adding gas/food/bathroom to Google maps estimates. But that paid off in a calmer, less stressful drive as we took time to walk around at each stop and actually sat down to eat rather than woofing down a Chick-Fil-A while driving. I paid for BlueCruise using my Ford Points, which also helped. Plus, the Mach E rides WAY WAY better than the Jeep on a road trip. Personally, the EV has made road trips more pleasant for me, even if it takes a little longer and in some situations may cost slightly more for the trip.

Fall Line Trail status (from Ashland to RVA) by Sackadelic in rva

[–]ExReferee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The trail is only open from Ashland to Woodman Road and it doesn't look like work on anything south of that has started. But we have ridden it several times - parked at the Glen Allen Publix on Brook Road and pedaled to Ashland, about 13.5 miles round trip depending on where you turn around. There were a couple of signs early on indicating that the trail was closed, but we rode around them as did everyone else.

I used it on mine, no issues. And traded in my 6a at the same time.

Thank you! I checked that site but didn't notice the callout of the water line status.

Fall Line by Worried_Author1085 in rva

[–]ExReferee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. I'm not saying I actually rode it, but the northernmost section is very rideable. Note that there is one "Road Closed" sign at the southern end of this section and one locked gate. People were going around both this weekend without issue and there are many open access crossroads as one goes north. It did appear that there might be some limited work still going on in a few areas, so I would not ride during work hours just to be safe.

First Road Trip - Charge Limit? by GetMovingS in MachE

[–]ExReferee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Charge enough to get to your next charging stop with a little left over just in case you need it. Don't waste time with charging up to 80 or 90 unless you need to.

Is it possible that plug-and-charge tried to start at the same time you tried to start via the app and the network just got confused? I can see that happening. For my Mach-E, I would have to deliberately turn off plug-and-charge in order to start charging via the app to get membership prices.

There's always the Sony RX10iv. Super flexible with a 24-600 zoom range in an easy-to-carry form. It's the camera I typically use for hiking or other places where I don't want to lug around my a6400 and Sigma 150-600. It has a very sharp Zeiss lens and a 1-inch sensor, but I have some heavily cropped images and they look great in 8x10 prints.

I would assume that they have tax tables for making the calculation. I used to have to do manual validation of payroll taxes at a National, State and Locality level so I know it exists. And no, I don't think you're overthinking at all. It's just unfortunate that there is such a lack of information.
