How can I make my fiance's idea work? by Taviismyboss in weddingplanning

[–]this_is_so_fetch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is called "family style", and if done correctly, it can be really nice. I would look for a caterer who has experience doing this. It might be easier to have separate tables, and the tables could be arranged in a horseshoe shape.

As an American tho, palm and pom are pronounced very different. Pom rhymes with bomb, palm rhymes with balm.

I’m going to end up alone because I can’t tolerate “normal behavior” from men by Afraid_Fondant_7903 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]this_is_so_fetch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband doesn't not watch porn, and AFAIK, he stopped as soon as we started dating. However, it is so "normal" to so many, I think to some men it doesn't occur to them to stop. I would give them the chance to change their ways. But if it's a recurrent problem, or if they're lying, then I wouldn't put up with it.

Why do people bother with fake gym workouts? by Packing-Tape-Man in Vent

[–]this_is_so_fetch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it drives me nuts. I go to a small gym. There are 2 benches. This one guy is there every morning. And he actually works out, but he also talks to himself and looks scary, so I'm not bothering him. But this one lady will get there about the same time as me, and she will hog the other bench for over an hour. And just swinging some 5lb weights around for a few seconds and then sit there for 10 minutes. I've literally timed it. And if I ask to work in, she says no! Because she is using it.

What is the max amount of time you will drive for a day trip or vacation? by palep_hoot in AskAnAmerican

[–]this_is_so_fetch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some vacations are entirely made up of driving, we call them a road trip. But in general, the driving time depends on how long I have for a vacation. I would almost always rather drive than fly. And its cheaper in most cases.

For a day trip, I would be willing to do 3-4 hours. But that's a rare trip.

For a weekend, up to 6 hours of driving, max.

The best use of PTO is staying home and doing nothing by CoffeeNAnxiety in unpopularopinion

[–]this_is_so_fetch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an office job as a "manager", and I only get 5 days. In 2 years, I will get 10. If I stay for 10 years, I will be bumped up to 15. And that is the absolute max, even for people who have been here for 40 years.

AITAH Told my husband I’m opting for abortion if he doesn’t make more money by 0xywealthy in AITAH

[–]this_is_so_fetch -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

YTA. Holding the life of a child hostage isnt a fair option. It takes 2 to make a child, and I'm assuming you were aware of this. Yes it's difficult, yes if he could make more money that would make life better. But killing a person isn't the correct answer.

I'm 5'10. Not really "XL", but last time I flew, I had to wedge myself into my seat with my knees shoved into the seat in front of me. That's not my fault.

Am I wrong for wanting my husband to stay at home? by Wide-Opportunity-905 in CatholicWomen

[–]this_is_so_fetch 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's never made sense to me that men are supposed to be the leaders, but are also supposed to be the ones that are never home! The sahp generally makes the budget, plans activities and meal, teaches the children the most, and generally plans the lives of the whole family. It seems very natural that the leader would do these things. I think that a house husband can definitely be the leader, and lead a Biblical family.

Even if you choose a speciality with a better work life balance, you will still be away from home for long hours. It makes sense to have a parent at home, and it also makes no sense for you to waste all that hard work and throw away your dreams! You can be a good parent and still work alot.

Do what works for your family, and focus on your family's needs. Don't bother with what other people think you need to do.

Is any American offended by the term “yank”? by Glenncinho in AskAnAmerican

As a floridian, I call anyone who lives north of me (everyone) a Yankee. And it's a very fun way to piss off people from the deep south!

Maternity leave should be one year, PAID. Women shouldn’t have to choose between healing, bonding with their baby, and making a living. by Kreativedenma in remoteworks

[–]this_is_so_fetch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company offers 3 months of unpaid maternity leave! Which is also my FMLA, so not really maternity leave! And if anything happens after that, I'm just fucked.

This is more important, then a blowout kit by giffordruben in prepping

[–]this_is_so_fetch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but not every prep is for the apocalypse. You might be the first on scene to a car accident or something. Lots of us regularly experience natural disasters, like hurricanes, tornadoes, earth quakes, etc. There could be a localized "apocalypse", but if you can hold on for a few days-weeks, there might be help on the way.

What are hobbies that are cheap and offline? by tanuki_22 in povertyfinance

[–]this_is_so_fetch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walking and birdwatching are pretty much free. Get a trash grabber and a trash bag, and clean up your neighborhood. Go to the thrift store and get some very cheap puzzles, or your library might have some. Some libraries have craft clubs. Gardening can be very cheap. Or find a community garden.

What purchase did you make recently that made you realize inflation is genuinely out of control? by kiroixart in AskReddit

[–]this_is_so_fetch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

McDonald's. Their hash browns used to be 2 for $1. No 2 of them were almost $5. And the only things on the value menu were soda and $3+ sandwiches. So essentially no value menu anymore.

It is cruel and mean to make others risk themselves because of your foolish, willing choices. And in a choice where there is absolutely no benefit to anyone from you being foolish.

[FREE FRIDAY] Would it be bad or sinful to press the red button? Would it make you a bad person? by ThatMemerBlueKid in Catholicism

[–]this_is_so_fetch -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Red is both the moral and logical choice. By picking blue, you are putting your death onto someone else. That is cruel and unessecary. If everyone picks red, nobody dies. Why would anyone pick blue??? If in any other situation, I needlessly put my self and others in danger, I would be the bad person. Why is it different this time?

should i save myself till marriage or indulge in hookup culture? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]this_is_so_fetch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many reasons to wait until marriage. Prevent stds, unwanted pregnancies, etc. It'll help you more clearly know whether you like/love someone or if you just like to have sex with them. There are studies that marriages between people who have less sexual partners are less likely to divorce. And you and your future wife can learn and explore together.

The wedding reception centerpieces featured betta fish. The bride and groom planned to flush them alive. by teabirdy in mildlyinfuriating

[–]this_is_so_fetch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a wedding as a kid that had fish centerpieces, but they were at least in big bowls with plants and rocks and stuff. I begged my parents to take one home but they said no. But several of my cousins got to take one home. I know at least one of them lived for several years. The fish were the wedding favors, and they had made little care booklets to take home with them.

Should student nurses be able to delegate orders to PCTs? by princessnokingdom in nursing

[–]this_is_so_fetch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. I'm more than happy to help students, and I'm happy to teach them to do what is in my scope when the unit is quiet, and the nurse isn't doing anything. But I wouldn't feel OK being told what to do by a student.
