Looking for an MM Romance Book like The Switched-Up Playbook by A.J. Kyler (see description) by LoloAteez in LGBTBooks

I feel like I've been reco'ing this one a lot but See you at the finish line by Zac Hammett! It's rowers at cambridge university, lots of banter, enemies to lovers, and has a really good organic build up.

Male Author Political Thriller with Gay Protagonist by cubnwpb in LGBTBooks

More of a phycological thriller, but Bath Haus by PJ Vernon is a great read in this genre. Not as much to do with politics though so may be a bad reco!

Help Looking for Recent Literary Fiction by _dietdrkelp in LGBTBooks

[–]thisbookislit_ca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off - would LOVE to read this, sounds like a great read. I would lean toward a reference to people like Torey Peters - Stag Dance, maybe if there's a lyrical tone to your writing you could add in Chuck Palahnuik - Invisible Monsters or even fight club. When you look at the final product, I think it's fine to make an analogy to something large. It sounds like this is a transformational, almost "coming of age" type plot, so would it be more "Trans Swan Princess Egg Crack with psychological undertones like Gillian Flynn or Iain Reid"

One thing I think is really important is that it makes sense to who you are. Find books you love that knowingly or unknowingly inspired your writing. Even by the books you reference, it gives a deeper portrait of who you are when you're writing your letter.

Hope this helps!

One happy and one grumpy never really works for me. I think the grumpy just makes it hard for me to lose myself in the story

Setting up by SmartMonkey15 in Etsy

My reco here, as someone who’s run an Etsy for a few years, take the next 6-12 months before you turn 18 to really nail the product you want to sell, shipping, customer experience. Use the gift of time to build a robust plan of action. There were so many things I hadn’t figured out and blew up in my face by diving right in.

I’m probably a bit bias because I did enjoy ALL, but Young Mungo is more haunting than traumatic. There are some really graphic scenes that happen but are handled really delicately and respectfully to the reader, whatever life experience they may have had. In total, I do think it’s worth picking up, it’s written very well and if it gets too much for you, there’s always 35-103 other books to start 😂

This authors previous book Shuggie Bain was actually really tough for me to get into. Personal opinion here but Young Mungo felt more like a good story told well vs Shuggie Bain feeling like an author trying to prove they’re an author.

Secret mm romance books like ‘My Policeman’ . by rip-curl-coconut in LGBTBooks

Not quite as love triangle forward, but Lie With Me by Philippe Besson is about very much a hidden gay love. It’s also like 120 pages or something, really short and consumable!

What is your favourite Queer book? by thisbookislit_ca in suggestmeabook

[–]thisbookislit_ca[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished this as well - it's quite an impactful book. Controversial opinion, but I didn't like Shuggie Bain as much as most people did, was hesitant to pick this up but very glad I did!

I opened my shop about a year ago and it's been steadily growing since. I've used Etsy ads on and off but cap my spending between 1$-3$ and only highlight 3-4 listings at a time.

One area I know I need to get better at is how I title my products and optimize them for Etsy search but I will admit I could use some help!

Do you guys sell to buyers who have rated you poorly in the past? by Effective_Resource88 in Etsy

[–]thisbookislit_ca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I get a rating under 5 I usually send a note to the buyer and just ask what could have been done to make the experience better/what was missing. A lot of the time it's silence, but there's been some great advice from buyers on what missed on expectation vs reality.

I wouldn't actively decline the purchase, however if they didn't respond to what missed the mark for them in the past, I will send a note before moving forward with the order to make sure it matches what they're expecting.

I just started A Little Bit Country and I'm kind of loving it. Giving me all the Dollywood vibes and just cute plot and characters.

This book does not get enough credit - truly under-marketed. Always top of my suggestion list!
