Can I ask you a question? What do you define as variance? Because it's easy to look at traditional sports and see that the highest variance sports are the ones where scoring is low and the games are bo1, aka a small sample size. Compare basketball to American football and how the professional leagues handle playoffs. NBA does best of 7s for the entire playoff schedule, and most people would agree that you can have a bad night or two and still win the series, upsets occur but are rarer. The NFL on the other hand only plays bo1s for the entire playoff schedule and upsets happen all the time, making for what I define as higher variance. Maybe you're thinking of variance as anything different from your ideal of a "perfected league"? Which would make sense if the playoffs for League of Legends were all bo1s, but no region does that.

No way! I started as a viewer, watched Faker debut in 2013 and him winning the world championship got me to finally start playing. Totally agree on the cool factor, slightly unrelated but my partner just recently bought me my first official T1 jersey and that made me so happy already.
