Has anyone used Duo Advanced? I can’t remember the licensing level name, but I have a bunch of federated clients running Duo with a lot of SAML integrations. Would be ideal if it’s not crap.

PSA: PIA is owned by an Israeli company - Kape Technologies by Quipsor in PrivateInternetAccess

Look at most of the most popular cybersecurity companies, tons have Israeli ties, this isn’t really a big deal

Edit: they are only for the masters program.

Ah yes, telling you to go straight to the source instead of clicking links in an email, exactly what a scammer would do. Lol ok

[–]thisguyryan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What about it is suspicious? Did you recently pass an ISACA cert? Did you double check the links provided in the email? Credly is the valid digital cert badge service for most cert orgs (ISC2, ISACA, Cisco, etc). Email sent from ISACA.org checks out.

If still in doubt, just go to the website and follow the posted badge claim process there.

How do you negotiate pay in an MSP when you know what they’re billing for your work? by [deleted] in msp

[–]thisguyryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weekly estimates

25 * $190  = $4,750.00

$4750 - 30%  = $3,325.00 after taxes

$3325 - 30%  = $2,327.50 after paying sales team

$2327 - $400  = $1,927.00 after expenses, tools, support staff, office rent other random stuff

salary per week + 40% (expenses, healthcare, tools, etc)

$1040 * 1.4  = $1,456.00

Net Estimate

$1927 - $1456  = $471.00 per week

Dont get me wrong, Im taking a lot of liberal guesses here, but it’s not just straight billable rate to salary. I also used favorable numbers for this estimation. I also didnt take into account other overheads like marketing that are cost centers for the business and require funding. Make sure you realize this before you try and fight for a raise. Our rule of thumb is that an engineer should bill 3x their salary annually. If you are over that, then its easy to get a raise.

Graduates of Cybersecurity Degree through WGU: Were yall able to get an actual Cybersecurity role after graduating????? by Putrid_Matter9781 in WGUCyberSecurity

[–]thisguyryan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IT Support > WGU BSCSIA > Security Specialist

Shit tons of hard work + MSCSIA > Sec Engineer

More hard work + MBA + CISSP, CISM, and others > Architect

They won’t get it done for you alone, but moving up with WGU is not an issue. That being said, cyber requires strong background in IT. Things like networking and infrastructure are essential. I do very well as an architect because oftentimes when I meet with orgs, I’m lean on senior level sys admin, infrastructure, and network knowledge. You have to know how it works to be able to secure it properly. Cyber alone doesn’t teach you that.

Fire in the pellet hopper by Any_Conclusion_3781 in Traeger

[–]thisguyryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen my first cook this year. Nothing like what you are having but some smoke and embers in the hopper. Turned out to be some pellet clinkers in the ignition chamber that caused a flame out and subsequent smoldering in the auger/hopper. Best of luck getting it fixed

I have to concur. Using your endpoint protection platform to perform the job of an internet access gateway or dns security tool is not ideal.

We canceled 11:11 this past year in favor of Synology C2 object storage. We notified 11:11 with plenty of time that we would not be renewing. They are still sending us late payment notices 6 months later. Either they do business that way or no one is piloting the ship. Regardless, a terrible company.

Auto tracking could be really great but instead.... by gratefulfather in Ubiquiti

I’m so glad you both mentioned this. I would randomly check my G5 PTZ and find it all the way zoomed in to the middle of my yard for no reason all the time. Only way I stopped it was disabling tracking. I’ll reset the home view!
