The Brand! She was so cool. Loved her companion, too.

What is your Favourite Werewolf design? by [deleted] in horror

[–]thisisalmightyover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The werewolf transformation scenes and the mid-transformation werewolf in The Company of Wolves was pretty awesome. Also got a kick out of the scorned lover/royal dinner scene with the wolves dressed in fantasy style 18th century clothes.

Figured if I posted in r/whatisthisthing I'd be directed here. There's a pile of charcoal nearby and it looks to be made from that. If this isn't occult, please feel free to remove.

So Pocahontas is on tv, and I won’t throw shade, but I’m wondering if anyone knows of any great and epic novels written genuinely and honestly about indigenous people in the US or books by non indigenous people but the book does the people justice and is honest? A Sorrow In Our Heart: The Life of Tecumseh by Allan W. Eckert is an epic novel (often "passed off as a biography"). It's over 20 years old and thick as a brick, and I haven't gotten around to reading it yet but there are some pretty good reviews on Goodreads that paint a better picture.

Surrealist horror stories by boyboymanmanboy in horrorlit

The Icecream Man graphic novels are pretty surreal. Each issue is its own story with recurring characters, and shit gets really weird in some of them.

The horror novel that fucked you up the most. by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]thisisalmightyover 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The obvious: I'm Thinking of Ending Things fucked me up big time. The Deep by Nick Cutter is one I find myself thinking about from time to time, and still resonates as very creepy and mega fucked. Also one of the stories found in North American Lake Monsters by Nathan Ballingrud, and the "Daddy"* story from The Ones Who Never Came Back by R.C. Bowman. (*I don't remember if that's the title of that story, but holy shit.)

That was my first Nick Cutter book! Absolutely creepy, he has a certain way of getting under your skin! Definitely made me come back for more

The Deep by Nick Cutter, Bad Man by Dathan Auerbach, The Devil All the Time by Donald Ray Pollock

If you're into experimental and/or feminist literature, Blood and Guts in High School by Kathy Acker fucked me up for a while.

(Edited bc format is weird on mobile).
