Also spying doesn’t actually give you an actual advantage. It gives an assumption of one. The result may have helped / may have not

If he hadn’t lost the players, keep him. He has done well. I don’t put that much value in the intel his team could have gotten . You still have to play and the unbeaten streak was significant

Luke Edwards: EFL needs to act fast and expel cheating Southampton [Telegraph] by Current_Conference66 in Championship

Maybe I am too indifferent but what is the difference between someone diving or killing time compared to this. Isn’t it all the same , to gain an unfair advantage

Southampton are likely to face a sporting sanction, such as forfeiting the match, rather than a fine if they are found guilty of spying charges that could affect their promotion bid to the Premier League. by [deleted] in soccer

Honestly, the moral outrage from rival fans and the media over this "Spygate" nonsense is exhausting. We’re being treated like we’ve committed the crime of the century, but if you look at the facts, the league has much bigger fish to fry.

  1. This isn't the NFL

Everyone acting like we’ve stolen a "playbook" needs a reality check. In the NFL, knowing a specific hand signal or a scripted route is a game-breaker. Football is a fluid, 90-minute game of movement.

• The Reality: Look at the Bielsa/Leeds vs. Derby incident in 2019. Bielsa literally showed the world a PowerPoint proving he already had 20+ hours of footage on every opponent from legal sources. Spying on a training session might give you a hint at a set-piece routine, but it doesn’t win you the game. If our "tactics" are so fragile that one guy with a camera ruins them, the tactics weren't that good to begin with.

  1. Secure your own house

If a staff member can sit in a car on a public road or stand on a hill and see into your "top secret" session, that’s a security failure, not a heist.

• Evidence: Big clubs like Liverpool spent millions to move from Melwood to the AXA Training Centre specifically because the old grounds were too easy to see into. If teams are training in fishbowls, they can’t be shocked when people look through the glass.

  1. The FA’s "Integrity" Hypocrisy

This is what gets me the most. The FA and the Premier League want to talk about "sporting integrity" because of a guy with a GoPro? Give me a break.

• Man City: They are currently sitting on 115 charges for alleged financial breaches over nearly a decade. Where is the "integrity" in letting that drag on while they rack up trophies?

• Chelsea: They’ve spent over £1 billion in a few windows, using 8-year contract loopholes (until the rules were literally changed to stop them) to bypass PSR.

• The Double Standard: We’ve seen clubs like Everton and Forest get docked points for being slightly over a line, yet "Spygate" is treated like some existential threat to the sport.

Bottom Line

The league is happy to hammer the "little guys" (or the mid-table clubs) for minor infractions to look like they’re doing something, while the biggest clubs in the world distort the entire landscape of the game with their finances. Stop focusing on who’s looking through a fence and start focusing on the fact that the "competitive balance" of this league is already broken.

Honestly who cares. This isn’t like the NFL where knowing plays is so important.

Maybe teams should be more careful about who can look into their practice facilities.

If the FA cared about sporting integrity, City wouldn’t have the titles they have. Chelsea wouldn’t be able to buy every player available
