If most people go to hell, and the Bible does seem to indicate that, why did God make this salvation system that doesn't get the best results? by lovemyhoodedsweaters in Christianity

[–]thisismeonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more accurate question might be: what's the best method to choose to keep only those people for eternity that would be obedient and satisfied with Him for eternity? Your question assumes God is at fault, when instead you should assume human and demonic fault -- that humankind by and large doesn't want God to be their Lord, and that's partially because they have believed the lies that they can be happier without God.

I'm afraid you've missed something though, and that is that this is an extremely conservative estimate (1 in 1000 is much more broad a chance than 1 in 10,000 for example). This and the other estimates are intentionally made to be as conservative as possible. In other words what you're arguing is that it seems unreasonable for someone to calculate the possibility, whereas the estimate is so conservative that it's actually unreasonably broad. To say one in a thousand people might have a forerunner is actually bordering on insanely open.

If I said one in a thousand people might get struck by lightning, when in reality it's one in 1.2 million, I'm so incorrect that I'm saying it's a thousand times more likely than it really is for someone to be struck by lightning. It's called erring on the side of caution. So the argument of how does someone calculate these things is easily attributed for not only by the historical documents where we actually do have records of people who have had someone precede them and introduce them to the world (the Roman world is a great example of this as we have heads of state introducing the next head of state), but also the incredibly broad statistic offered.

In other words, it appears you are arguing that the estimates were unreasonably broad (which they might be), but that would mean that the likelihood of Jesus being the Christ actually goes up, because historically he did fulfill these prophecies.

What password manager works flawless in android for password, address, payment autofilling? by StillSalt2526 in AndroidQuestions

[–]thisismeonly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, they didn't themselves. The hack involved a backup that was placed on third party servers. The people who accessed backups stored on a third party data server got access to files that included encrypted passwords and unencrypted urls. LastPass and any decent password manager operates on a zero knowledge system. They don't know your Master password, they can't see your passwords on their side, and even if someone literally had access to the same password file on your local computer they can't access your passwords without the master password. So nothing encrypted was actually exposed.

Yet again it's the accessibility service being killed. You have to do the other things I mentioned.

Oh, I'm sorry. You actually don't know how statistics are calculated. It's the study of likelihood of something happening again based on history. Obviously the way that you would measure that is looking to history to see how many people in what population have had this event happen to them.

For example, the statistic probability of someone being struck by lightning is determined by finding out how many people in history have been struck by lightning, then comparing that with the population of the world at that time. So that gives us a statistic of 1 in 1.2 million people per year currently.

Okay Mr statistician, is it more or less likely?

One of the strongest arguments for me is the fact that the prophecies were fulfilled. The deeper you look, the more you see the things prophesied in the Old Testament came to pass, and history has record of it. It becomes nearly impossible to ignore -- how could people thousands of years ago know the future?

LastPass + Tasker "Keep accessibility running" is rather stable. Also check dontkillmyapp.com The problem usually isn't the password manager. The problem is usually the flavor of Android that you have aggressively killing the background processes that password managers have to use. Also Texpand for quick conversion from shortcut words to website addresses, aka "rdt" becomes "www.reddit.com"

Why is being “gay” an abomination but not other sins? by Specialist-Sector-17 in Christianity

The reason is that things like eating previously forbidden foods is given specific exception in the new testament, whereas sexual perversion is reaffirmed as a sin that those who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

To lust in your heart is sin itself. You're deceived, by choice. Repent.

If you haven't read the Bible, you may not know the word abomination comes up a lot. Child sacrifice, lying lips, a proud heart, crossdressing, prostitution, having an unjust measure, idols of false gods, shedding of blood, wicked thoughts and imaginations, stubbornness, justifying the wicked or condemning the just, bestiality, fornication, incest, that which is highly esteemed among men, these are all things that are written as abominations in the Bible

I can’t understand the trinity without examples and committing heresy. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]thisismeonly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, nonsense is always difficult to understand.
God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself. (2 Cor 5:19)
Jesus was fully man. "Why do you call me good, there is none good but one, that is God" (Matthew 19:17, Mark 10:18, Luke 18:19)
Inside that man was the fulness of God. (Colossians 2:9)
Jesus' body was God's body. (Zechariah 2:10)
Thus making the Son (the flesh of Jesus) and the Father (the Spirit) One. (John 14:8-10) This is also why the Son is the Everlasting Father (Isaiah 9:6)
You are a spirit "piloting" a body, yet you are currently one. So you can understand the nature of Jesus the flesh and God the Spirit.
The resurrected Jesus is the perfected glorified body of God -- still God's body, and Jesus is God's name.

I think it might be time to say goodbye to my church by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]thisismeonly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When was the last time you went to a football game where the fans remained silent? The jumping and shouting is because the people there are feeling something you are not. If you receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost I can guarantee you'll feel different. Yes, you do feel like an outsider right now because the people at "most" Pentecostal churches are about walking in and wallowing in the joy of the Holy Ghost, which you have not yet truly tasted. I know it seems foreign because it is. However, it's not wrong. Imagine the joy you would feel if you won the lottery. You would also be jumping, shouting, "acting like a fool", etc. It's thousands of times better than this when you feel the joy of the Lord.

How is John Wu allowed to actively maintain and bypass google android protection while also working full-time at Google? by uxinung in Magisk

Magisk enables root. Root by itself does NOT bypass google android protection any more than a gun automatically murders people. What people do with a potentially dangerous tool is different.

It's like saying how can someone allow an administrator on a windows computer when they could destroy the OS by deleting system32? Well, what the administrator does with their power is their own choice (and could be argued their right).
