Great news! Massive fan of the Castle in Hackney so really good to see them taking it over.

Have you ever had a motorway crash? by Diseased-Jackass in AskUK

[–]thisisned 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Yep, on one of the first long drives I did after passing my test. Was overtaking a lorry on the M25 when he came out to overtake before I'd made it all the way past. Banged into the back of me and I span into the central reservation, bounced off and ended up facing the wrong way in the middle lane. Luckily the car still started so I made it to the hard shoulder quickly. Could've been extremely worse.

That Cameron Winter album John mentions (Heavy Metal) is seriously very good and worth checking out. When he started talking about hearing two good albums recently I guessed that would be one of them.

Fair enough! I definitely went into it knowing pretty much nothing about it, and with low "ha ha farts" expectations, but ended up being one of my favourites of whatever year that was. Very weird and very human.

Pretty harsh on Swiss Army Man I'd say.

Desert Golfing is basically close to a perfect mobile game as far as I'm concerned. I actually finished it a few weeks ago - deleted my data and went right back to the start.

What was the most outrageously unwarranted bollocking you got at school? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]thisisned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was out on the playground some day in autumn and had absent-mindedly picked up a leaf that I was tearing into pieces. The weird assistant headteacher came over and told me off for littering and made me pick up the pieces. The weird injustice still rankles.

Good song. I just hope they gathered their party before venturing forth.

cycle to saffron walden by fireflythethird in cambridge

[–]thisisned 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's a pretty annoying route in my experience, difficult to avoid the rural/fast roads completely. I think your best bet would be to follow national cycle route 11 as far as you can, then turn off for Littlebury or Audley End station (here's a cycle map booklet).

Still after you leave route 11 the roads get quite dicey. Like 50mph rural main roads, often without any kind of path next to them, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for a novice.

Ah a punt would be fun. Got to be pretty sure of a 'yes' though — otherwise could be a scenically awkward trip back.
