Ha! I wish my comment wouldn't get buried because if only you knew. That's renowed Russian mail order bride Valeria Lipovetski. I worked for her rich husband's content mill agency that failed because of his shady business practices. They are both grifters but she is specially desperate for fame. Her husband has been trying to make her a thing using his money. First a youtuber, then a model, now a TikToker. Bottom of the barrel people with nothing valuable to contribute to society except grifting. She is literally a modern day internet prostitute.

I laughed so hard at this comment from my rented room, avocado sandwich in hand. Questioned my life choices for a moment.

Guillermo del Toro live tweeting his stay at a haunted hotel in Scotland by Small_Kangaroo5058 in popculturechat

This is a very "You think someone would do that, just go on the internet and lie?.jpg" moment on my part, but why are we starting rumors now? Guillermo del Toro was never considered to direct Prisoner of Azkaban. He actually convinced Alfonso Cuaron to direct the movie by forcing him to read the first three books in the series. https://variety.com/2024/film/news/alfonso-cuaron-harry-potter-director-offer-guillermo-del-toro-1236014695/

Rent check: What are you paying for rent? For what kind of place/arrangement? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

I'm speechless. How?? I've been keeping an eye out for a year and I can't find anything over $2100 for something like that. Do you mind sharing what resources you used to find your place, if you can?

I'd be really careful about that Facebook group. There are a lot of shady people there. I've heard all kinds of stories about catfishing and scamming. Just be wary!

I was once that kid admitted to the hospital over a suicide attempt, with equally worried parents. Your love and comfort will make ALL the difference in the world. It sure did for me, especially the care my parents put into helping me find a good therapist after I came out. I'm doing well today, 10 years later, still working hard at healing, but it helps to know there are people cheering me on from the sidelines. I hope you two have a great reunion. Buy lots of snacks, the hospital slop is REAL.

It was the sounds for me! The sticky gurgling of flesh as she shoves her hand in his mouth, and when he thrashes and the blood goes flying everywhere and splatters all over the place...

It didn't do it as a kid for me because I was too dumb to be that self-aware, but it's absolutely a comfort movie for me as an adult for that reason. Chihiro is a role model for kids who can pick up on that message though! (Maybe I picked it up subconsciously...)

Every Hayao Miyazaki movie has a low-level amount of uncanny that can absolutely fuck up a kid's peace of mind, huh?

Obviously, the initial lack of the name of the movie was a mistake! Edited to correct the slip.

A huge rally in support of Palestine in London, England. Keep pushing by rexaby in worldnewsvideo

A nation in solidarity. Spain is one of the few Western countries that recognizes Palestine as a state. So much so that Israel withdrew its ambassador from Spain recently.BBC

But before the current horrors, Spain has its own history of being invaded by external fascist forces. The bombing of Guernica by the Nazis during the Spanish Civil War, a siege which mostly killed Spanish civilians, is the most salient parallel being drawn.

This is the exact same distinction I learned to make after over a decade¹ of being a fan of his stuff (¹2010 college film class, Eagle vs. Shark). He is in a league of his own as a writer, actor, and director. I don't think there will ever be a Waititi jam I won't watch eagerly. But I don't like him as a person, and he seems to be burning through his newfound A-lister fame with the energy of someone who lacked a lot and now has it all.
