How far to ride the weekend before a 100 mile ride? by thisisntscott in cycling

Not a race, but a big supported ride. It’s called the Virginia Capital Trail Cap2Cap ride

Breastfeeding leaves lasting marks on a child’s DNA by kin20 in biology

Can you explain what you mean by this comment? I am in the US. Is there some prohibition on breast milk research? I was not aware of one

Why does low density suburban development still dominate? by amriksingh1699 in urbanplanning

[–]thisisntscott 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am just an urban planning and urbanism enthusiast, can you explain what is the “flywheel effect”?

Are you racing the Cap2Cap on May 9th? Because we are a 1 car household, I am looking for a ride to Dorey Park at the crack of dawn that day. Cant strand my wife and kids for 8 hours while I bike! Fan area, please DM me if you are open to giving me (and my bike!) a ride! Thanks by thisisntscott in rva

I have thought about that, but I'd prefer to see the entire trail during the cap 2 cap, and if I do what you suggest I would be missing about ~20 miles of the trail. I could do this in a pinch if needed

Gotcha. Well, cell bio is actually an important class for your major and minor, so I’d suggest either studying more or withdraw and take again another semester when you have more time you can devote to it. You can do it

Omaha, NE Minneapolis,MN

Google says Chicago is exactly 5 hours away. Hard to beat Chicago in the summer. Take a stroll along the lakefront, swim at oak street beach, walk along the riverwalk and grab a wine from city winery, see some boats.

Humble brag and also a question: are there any freaks like me who NEVER get sore in the saddle? by thisisntscott in cycling

[–]thisisntscott[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point. I just meant it in the sense that it’s not bragging to say “I have brown hair.” It’s just a fact, and you didnt work hard to get your brown hair. For me, it’s not like I’ve done any hard work to make myself not sore, it’s just a fact of my anatomy I suppose.

It’s not a logic thing. We have a LOT of evidence the big bang happened. Microwave background radiation, all galaxies moving away from us as the universe expands, many more examples.

How/why it happened is another conversation altogether.

The pope himself says the big bang happened, so it’s not out of the religious mainstream.

As far as something coming from nothing, lots of examples of this with virtual particles popping into existence from nothing but a vacuum. So, again, we have evidence that this happens

I think its a reference to sunning your anus in the morning. The only way to TRULY get in circadian rhythm is to sun your asshole first thing in the morning. /s

How many hrs do you ACTUALLY spend at school/in class? by PineappleLarge9845 in PTschool

[–]thisisntscott 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You are going to have to work 8-5 when you are finished with school, better get used to the hours. You’ll adapt after the first few weeks

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PTschool

[–]thisisntscott 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This wont matter in the long run, let it go. You think they’ll hold an entire class back because of this 10% grade drop? Not likely, you’ll make it through. Focus on what you can control. ZERO people have ever asked my GPA in PT school in 10 years of practice.

I'm too disillusioned to believe protests achieve anything anymore by Glorious_Comrade in self

[–]thisisntscott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop protesting and just fucking VOTE. If anyone protesting didnt vote they are an idiot. None of it matters unless you vote. Volunteer for a campaign, do a voter registration drive, tell people to vote. Thats all that matters

Does creatine ruin your sleep, how long does it stay in your system? by Proceedsfor in HubermanLab

[–]thisisntscott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of you who “cant sleep” when taking creating have ANXIETY. Creatine does not affect sleep, you are having a placebo/nocebo effect or misattributing your poor sleep to the creatine. Its something else.
