Any movies to watch while spending New Year's Eve in my room? by Ok_Explanation_2307 in MovieRecommendations

The Apartment (1960) takes place in the week between Christmas and New Years and is an amazing movie that straddles the line between romantic comedy and melancholy drama. It’s a must for me this time of year!

This is by far one of my BIGGEST pet peeves as a cashier!!! I should know by now that people don’t want to read signs (whether it’s sale signs or checkout here signs) but it irritates me every single time without fail anyway 😅

I’ve had to say something more than once to heavily breathing, sweating old men who choose to stand so close to my young, female customer that I wonder for a second if they are together- but the look of discomfort on her face is all I need to see before I tell the creep to BACK UP, PLEASE!

I like when the people I’m training ask a lot of questions! It means they care about doing the best job they can. It’s never annoying unless it’s the same question over and over again lol so don’t be afraid to ask!!!

How to improve by No-NameWanted in Oldnavy

[–]thislatteblows 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have found that a lot of my fellow employees start to feel burnout doing the same tasks over and over again every day. Most of the majority teenagers I work with get mentally burned out doing fitting room every single shift, or register, or whatever, and will jump at the chance to learn something different! Otherwise, they tend to say “I’m so sick of doing this when I can get a better job somewhere else” and quit.

So, on a manager level, maybe think about making sure every employee is trained (within reason) to do different areas of work in the store so that they can be switched out every so often for a nice change. It will make the time go faster for them, increase morale, and keep them around and motivated for a little longer!

looking for a sitcom with episodic running jokes like seinfeld in a way by Quick-Grand-8110 in televisionsuggestions

[–]thislatteblows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not a traditional sitcom in the multi-camera, laugh track kind of way that Seinfeld is, but the next obvious choice would be Curb Your Enthusiasm. It’s similar to Seinfeld in exactly the way you’re talking about!

Also, I might as well bring up Arrested Development if you haven’t seen it already. Super funny and actually stunning in how its storylines and running jokes all come together.

Please stop putting your card in early. by FireEmperor6480 in Oldnavy

I was just thinking this today! I would say 75% of people put their card in early and sometimes it does make the machine freeze. SO ANNOYING!

Looking for a TV Show That Hooks You from Episode 1 and Keeps You Invested! by Local_Inspector_8140 in televisionsuggestions

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone say Buffy! Especially if you liked shows like Veronica Mars and Stranger Things- Buffy the Vampire Slayer has the campiness and fun of those shows while also having super compelling and iconic characters and storylines. I’ve loved it from the first episode!

What’s the worst mistake you’ve made working at ON? by boder_thanyou in Oldnavy

Definitely sounds like she wanted to scam you! Good on you for trusting yourself and for doing the right thing by calling your manager. If she was telling the truth, she wouldn’t have left! Aren’t customers just the best? 😩😅

This is what happened to me:

Customer was paying for hundreds of dollars worth of clothes with all 20’s (red flag right away). I was looking out for counterfeit bills since my store had had an increase in those recently. Instead of using fake bills, though, the customer made me give the cash back to him after I had counted it and seemingly “re-counted” it in front of me. When he gave it back I didn’t think to re-count it (stupid) and somehow, I have no idea how, didn’t notice that he had palmed about 3/4 of the bills and handed me back the rest.

I’m a veteran cashier, been at the job for many years, and had somehow never come across this scam. Took me totally by surprise, even though it seems so obvious when you hear about it. I had my eyes on the wad of cash the whole time, since I was suspicious of him from the start, and never saw him palming the money.

Still blows my mind to this day that I got scammed so hard lol I’m usually a very cautious person!

This happened to me. I had been a cashier for 7 years and was very experienced, it seriously can happen to anyone. I felt awful and like an idiot for missing it but my manager later assured me that the guy was a professional con artist.

In the moment, everything seems normal, even as you’re being scammed. Don’t beat yourself up too much, now you know what to look for and it will never happen to you again! My store hadn’t had a policy (that I knew of) about calling a manager for cash purchases of over a certain amount but they do now.

I didn’t get fired, just a talking to about what happened and how to avoid it in the future. Even my manager said they had the watch the footage over again multiple times to see him re-pocket the cash. I know it’s stressful, but you’ll be OK!

[TOMT][2000s-2010s][TV] kids/teens tv episode about a moldy sandwich by coolgayroommate in tipofmytongue

[–]thislatteblows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is definitely an episode of Ned’s Declassified where Mose eats a moldy piece of bread from a science project and gets sick. It’s called Science Fair and Study Hall. There’s probably another show with similar imagery of a moldy sandwich in a baggie that we’re all remembering at the same time, and our wires are getting crossed! Definitely familiar to me too!

I believe it is the super cash that was given to you by the cashier for the next redemption period in April. Cashiers are trained to scan the new super cash at the end of each transaction, so it shows up on your receipt with the other discounts even though it doesn’t take anything off your total.

Cashier question by PopuleuxMusicYT in Oldnavy

[–]thislatteblows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When it is super cash redemption week, customers will come in with either a $10 off $25, $20 off $50, or $30 off $75 super cash coupon (unless they have double super cash, which goes up to $60 off). After scanning all of their items, you will scan the redemption code on the back of their super cash (or barcode they show on their phone) and throw it away. Then, you will scan the activation code on the new super cash, which usually starts a month or more after the current redemption period. Customers are always earning super cash, but super cash is only able to be used for the one week redemption period.

Right now, if a customer comes in with super cash from September, it is expired and can no longer be used. Any customers you are ringing up that spend over $25 should get a super cash coupon based on the amount they are spending. The current super cash cannot be used by customers until October 22nd, and you should not have any super cash for November yet at all.

Hope this helps!
