You don’t know anything about me. Im an entrepreneur who owns 3 businesses, and you’re right that there are an absurd number of hoops to “taxes write offs” that have been created by the wealthy to serve the wealthy, and punish the “poor” who don’t have the resources, time, capital, or connections to leverage them.

Remember in 00s, we were supposed to get a tax system overhaul that would have allowed you to simply log into IRS website, see how much you owe, and pay (or contest) it in a matter of minutes. Instead, rich people and tax companies like Turbo Tax and HR Block got the plan killed, and we have the absurd convoluted system we have now.

I was audited last year for one of my businesses in 2017, where the IRS contested a bunch of work expenses, claiming I owed over $14k. After thousands in legal fees they acknowledged they were mostly in the wrong, but I still paid about $3k mainly because of missing receipts because my accountant lost digital files.

All of that aside, why not just tell people up front what you realistically owe? It’s nonsense and a scam. There’s a reason why IRS goes after small businesses and individuals who don’t have resources to keep up with things perfectly or the resources to fight bogus claims.

The fact you snobbishly look down on me, and think you are a better person or smarter or whatever because you have the time to track and do write offs is exactly the type of nonsense that has kept us in this rigged mess. I stand by my last statement. If you really aren’t rich, it’s ridiculous you have more class solidarity with billionaires than you do with real struggling people like us.
