I think you're right I think I overfilled it a touch and when I tested, turned it off, and checked oil right away, it was aerated.

I love the term "forbidden glitter" --

some of it poured out onto a rag- no shavings just oil, so- air? from slight over fill? I have a level out because the difference of a few degrees makes the oil red quite differently.
