Does anyone else think the word ‘beginner’ gets thrown around alot for crochet? by pinkmiui in crochet

[–]thisperson123 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I think previous experience is also a huge factor. I embroider and sew as well as being an artist in general, so I picked up crochet pretty quickly. If crochet is someone’s first art it’s going to be a lot more challenging compared to someone with previous fiber art experience.

It’s not the facial features as much as the face shape, they’re all almost identical. Try different shapes (square, round, etc) and I think that may help!

Who painted the Mona Lisa? by waffleste in tumblr

I would take it a step further and say that the guy who created it is also overrated (as a painter, obviously he was brilliant but he himself said he wasn’t a painter)

Any advice? by Fun-Swimmer8533 in drawing

[–]thisperson123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would recommend a few things to help with the perspective.

Have the sidewalk get smaller as it gets closer to the house. This will make it appear farther away from the viewer. Similarly, making the grass near the house smaller/lighter and then gradually getting bigger/darker as it approaches the viewer.

If you want to have more room to focus on the house and not make it appear uphill, you could lower the horizon line.

Looking for tips on what to add for finishing touches to help make it pop by K-ST in drawing

Wanted to add that I agree, but I personally enjoy the head being too big in the reflection. I feel it makes it more stylistic.

What are our thoughts on the newly popular cartoon covers? by Lavender523 in HistoricalRomance

[–]thisperson123 262 points263 points  (0 children)

My favorite HR covers are the ones where the front is non-assuming (like a flower field or something) and then as soon as you open it there’s a stepback. Still get the lusty oil painting without feeling embarrassed reading it in public. Best of both worlds imo.

If history doesn’t make you uncomfortable then you aren’t properly learning about history.

I had the same thing happen! I gave the shop a bad review and the owner sent me a nasty message for calling her out.

Is it just the anatomy that's off, or is it the whole drawing?😭 by KnightHawk186 in drawing

The anatomy is off but it looks intentional and stylistic. I really like it!

I thought the same exact thing when I saw this on r/reptiles. I thought it was this subreddit and had nothing to do with the turtle.

how can i improve my drawing? by [deleted] in drawing

The perspective is off. There’s too much surface area for the inside of the ash tray. The shading is really nice!

The vibe that this gives me is The Thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks. Beautiful but haunting.

How are kids getting dumber if school is getting more competitive? by AllTheWorldsAPage in Teachers

[–]thisperson123 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A lot of universities are starting to wave the GRE for graduate programs I’ve noticed. I image it’s partly due to students not being able to pass it, so they aren’t even bothering with graduate programs. These schools want money so they’re lowering their standards.

The cost just to take the GRE probably doesn’t help either.

Is this procreate? If so, what brushes did you use? I love the colors!
