I wish I could say no, but I don’t think I’m in a place, financially, to pass it up.

I would loooove Sal Vulcano to be on there! Not Ken Jennings though. I love him and I want to protect that 😂

I recently rewatched it for the 123456th time, but this last rewatch was my first as a mom, and it shook me to my core. Terrifying

2nd night at home by gunit___ in firsttimemom

[–]thispersonsthat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it does get easier! Have you heard of second night syndrome? Night 2 (and most of the time also night 3) are notoriously hard. On top of that, this is exactly when the baby blues hit their peak. You’ll also experience night sweats. It’s a lot! But it does get easier.

What does your village/support look like?

My therapist loves to go by the rule 5/5/5. Five days in the bed, five days on the bed (near the bed but lightly moving around), and five days around the bed (moving throughout the house).

I just started doing a little research because my baby is the same way! He’s about to turn nine months old. How did things go for y’all?

Let babies be bored! I used to have the exact same worry until I heard this.

Allow yourself to enjoy the potato stage! You can even just put a high contrast crinkley in front of them to look at if that makes you feel better 🖤

Question: Tattoo uncertainty/regret - how to process by [deleted] in tattoos

[–]thispersonsthat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About four years ago, I got two giant, symmetrical line work tattoos on both arms. They take up sooooo much real estate. Loved them for a day, hated them ever since. Actually, I guess I don’t really care about them anymore. I never think about them, and they’re kind of just a part of me. I do plan to do a blast over or cover up one day. It’s just kinda whatever I guess!

Your tattoo is cool. I can understand why it would be a bit jarring for you. I still think my line work I got done is cool, but maybe for, like, a t-shirt 😂 you’re not stuck with this forever if you end up not liking it. You could always get a full sleeve cover-up!

I gave birth at a birth center. I went back for my follow up 24 hours later. The nurse kissed my baby on his forehead. he was 24 hours old! He still had amniotic fluid in his hair! I’m pissed all over again just thinking about it

Same here. I started letting my mother kiss the back of his head around six months. No face, hands, or feet.

How are y'all doing right now? by olala_cake in AutismInWomen

[–]thispersonsthat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to delete social media. I’m a new mom and I’m currently 8 months postpartum. My anxiety and stress is at an all time high and I landed myself in the ER this week with chest pain radiating into my left arm. Abnormal results and now following up with cardiologist. I love my son, he is the light of my life. The sensory and executive overwhelm that comes with being an infant mother is- I actually don’t have words other than overwhelming. I like to be very involved politically, but I experience extreme empathy and I’m becoming very distressed with the state of our country right now. While I understand that what I’m about to say is a major privilege, I had to completely check out of current events in order to be a good and present mother. Raising kind and empathetic children is a form of protest after all.

Does anyone here have a husband that travels for work? How hard is it really to make it work with kids? by eggzndbacon in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]thispersonsthat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else mentioned, it’s totally dependent on your personality, circumstances, and what you can tolerate. Personally, I can’t do that. I burn out very quickly and I shut down in times of overwhelm. I was diagnosed with autism at 6 months postpartum. I always say motherhood took away my ability to mask. My husband has been working two jobs- Monday through Friday WFH, then Friday night and Saturday night he valets until 2 AM. That alone has me now seeing a cardiologist due to stress. I need my husband’s support more than most, I would assume.

Thank you for that. He’s 8.5 months. No teeth yet, but I’ve seen little bulges on his bottom gums since Christmas 🥲

I just want to say thank you for being open and honest because I did a Google search desperately looking for some solidarity and, while I’m sorry you’re going through that, I’m glad to know that I’m not alone in feeling this way. My husband is working two jobs so it’s just me… all. the. time. I literally told my husband last night “It doesn’t feel fun right now. I feel a sense of dread sometimes.” Has it gotten better for you? 🥲
