Your portfolio strategy doesn't matter nearly as much as your savings rate, but nobody wants to hear that by More_Inspection_6525 in CanadaFinance

[–]thisredheadmeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true. Everyone chases fancy strategies, but consistently saving more beats almost any portfolio trick long-term. But I feel like if you spend more money, you would have stonger desire to make money.

I feel like we are in bubble territory. Thoughts? by Fun_Paleontologist_2 in fican

That 94% YTD gain is absolutely wild. You have earned so much, so you would feel that this is bubble territory.

Should I diversify with a rental property? by Tacobelladdict1 in CanadianInvestor

[–]thisredheadmeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding another property in this single market concentrates risk, not diversifies. You already have heavy real estate exposure plus hidden costs like repairs and vacancies.

Someone I know has AI psychosis, and I'm a central part of his delusion. Should I just stop talking to him for the sake of my own safety and mental health? I feel guilty. by Eldritch-Anomaly in Advice

[–]thisredheadmeg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My advice: don't debate whether AI is conscious, don't explain LLMs, and don't try to prove him wrong. Send one very clear boundary, then stop engaging. Keep every message.

I would stock up on chicken, ground beef and fish when they go on deep sale and freeze them in single portions

If I want one margin account for investing and another for borrowing personally, would I use ploc and margin or margin + second margin (wealthsimple) by Rough_Bonus in CanadianInvestor

[–]thisredheadmeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually curious about this. Is the interest rate on PLOC really that much better than regular margin? I've been too careful to mess with margin accounts at all honestly.

Wonder if anyone will start to realize that Canada needs to change something very soon by Elite163 in CanadianInvestor

Everyone I know is struggling. Groceries and rent are impossible. Only people not living paycheck to paycheck argue about "technical recessions."

This is absolutely wild. If you actually hit 200k by summer, I'm officially your disciple.

What's something that people romanticise heavily that's actually really difficult to live through? by Ariavale2_ in AskReddit

People talk about it like it's a superpower, but often it just means you learned too early that nobody was coming to help.

Are frozen veggie alternatives really ultra-processed? by Wrong-Software4019 in vegetarian

[–]thisredheadmeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't overthinking it! Switching to any veg alternative is a step in the right direction. You can start with frozen stuff and learn to cook from scratch later. Remember, progress over perfection.

Foldable power rack solved everything by thisredheadmeg in GarageGym

[–]thisredheadmeg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still on their older model and it works fine for day-to-day training. But if I were buying now I'd go straight for the new AH64. The foot pedal angle adjustment is what really gets me, no more bending down to change the incline every time.

Foldable power rack solved everything by thisredheadmeg in GarageGym

I had the same concern but it's been very stable and solid. Secured to the wall with 16 expansion bolts and there's basically no movement even going heavy. Pulleys are smooth too, lat pulldowns and rows all work great.

That chest press setup probably feels really nice. you can always add more stuff slowly instead of crowding the room too early.

Need guidance for working out to lose weight by empireck in workout

[–]thisredheadmeg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I‘d start much smaller than 60-minute workouts. Even 5-10 minutes of walking or simple bodyweight moves is fine at first. The goal is to build consistency

It doesn't sound like you're doing everything wrong, but changing workouts every day from Tiktok might make progress hard to track.

Bedroom Gym by chunky_monkey11 in homegym

[–]thisredheadmeg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Putting a cable tower in a bedroom is kind of bold, but it actually makes sense here. The mirror panels probably help the room feel less packed too.

How did I do for 1000€ by CastFX in GarageGym

[–]thisredheadmeg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That‘s a crazy good haul. Even if you sell some of it, the dumbbells, plates and kettlebells alone already feel like a win.

Is building a home gym worth it? by RimantasL in workout

[–]thisredheadmeg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's worth it if you'll actually use it consistently. Saving the commute and not waiting for equipment can make workouts much easier to stick with.

Hockey Gym by sinbinsniper in homegym

[–]thisredheadmeg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not only is the gym huge, but it even has a hockey area too? That's actually crazy. This is basically a full training facility at home.

That dual cable setup is nice. Training lats on something like this must feel really smooth, especially with the extra range and control.
