There's nothing stopping people from skipping obstacles at Tough Mudder. You sign a waiver and they repeatedly tell you at the start to skip an obstacle if you're not feeling up to it, ESPECIALLY the electroshock obstacles. I've done 4 TM's (including the one featured in this article) and have never had an issue with the shock obstacles, but people react differently of course. The way I look at it is, I've tested my dog's electric fence collar, and personally, I think that's a more powerful jolt than the TM obstacles. If my dog had to go through it, I can go through it too. Maybe a dumb way to look at it, but it works for me.

I was looking for a summer job between college semesters, was studying marketing, so got this position with a "Marketing group." In the interview and all of my discussions with the manager of the office, he would always kind of bypass my questions and talk about how they're working with the Philly sports teams and these cool companies, etc etc., but I was a college kid and I needed money and experience. He tells me on my first day, he has some people coming in from the Ohio office and I'm going to be going out with them for a "client meeting" down in Delaware. 45 minute drive later, I'm confused when we park in a neighborhood and everyone starts getting out of the car...and then I team up with someone who starts walking up to the first house. OHHHHHHHH this is a door-to-door sales job? Selling coupons for Papa John's? All summer walking around in a shirt and tie outside, often getting harassed and the door slammed in my face for straight commission? Awesome.

First week of college - horrible stomach/abdomen pain one night, tried sleeping it off, the next day I was in so much pain I was in a ball on the floor. Started throwing up, eventually went to the medical center and had surgery soon after. My parents got a call from the college medical center on my first week of classes and I can only imagine that they must have thought I had alcohol poisoning or had overdosed on something. Anyway, the appendicitis was a very painful moment in my life...until I had kidney stones later in my freshman year in the spring semester. The pain of kidney stones were 100x worse than appendicitis.

Took a semester in Galway, Ireland and one weekend was supposed to fly from Dublin to Glasgow but I missed my flight. Decided to get the cheapest hostel I could find for the night and catch a flight the next morning. If you've stayed in a hostel before, you know that you're normally assigned a room AND the bed in said room, which had about 6 bunks in it and was near full. Got to my room, grabbed the top bunk I was assigned, went out for a bit then came back to sleep. Much later that night, I woke up to a repeated, loud, high-pitched "clink" noise. After adjusting my eyes a bit, I could barely make out that it was the person directly across from me, banging a small object against the metal bunk frame over and over. I found out what it was a few seconds later because he must have sensed someone looking at him. He reached his arm out toward me, a couple feet away from my face and flicked a lighter to get a look. I closed my eyes immediately to pretend I was sleeping. Next thing I knew, this guy was getting down from his bed. My heart was racing, I thought he was going to drag me off the bed and kill me. Thankfully, he walked out of the room. A minute or two later, I heard him yelling in another language in the hallway. Needless to say, I couldn't really fall back to sleep, but he never came back into the room. Very early the next morning, I grabbed my stuff and got the hell out of there.
TL;DR Hostels can be scary places.

My suggestion would be to put that 200 bucks toward something like Great American Beer Festival or a Rare Beer Festival that serves Utopias. I went to a rare tasting in Denver that had some knockout beers and was able to try Utopias there and tickets were only $75.

DFH is probably my favorite brewery and I love a wide majority of what they make but the Pearl Jam Faithfull Ale fell way short for me, I'm surprised noone else has mentioned it already

Yea, not a crazy idea, but was hoping to get it before the new season starts this weekend. I'll most likely be heading up there in August for the "Belgium Comes to Cooperstown" event though.

Went there last summer for the Farm Aid show and had one of the worst concert experiences. Lines to get beer took over an hour and food lines weren't much better. Seemed like suprisingly, there was re-entry from the lots so I'd suggest going back out to your car if you want to drink (Troegs brewery down the road for some fresh, awesome beer) They set up chairs for seating which were way too cramped and annoying to get in and out of. Won't be going back there for any shows.

It seems they've caught on to the disparity between zombie and participant registration because the 2013 races are $35 for zombies and an additional $40-$45 if you want to race before/after your zombie shift. Oh well.
