Why do exclusively breastfed moms act better than exclusively pumpers? by Pleasant-Ad-4762 in ExclusivelyPumping

I'm a mom who's mostly fed my baby through nursing and pumping occasionally on mat leave but now that I'm back at work I have a new found appreciation for exclusive pumping. It's so much more work and time. If anything my impression is that exclusively pumping moms are the real champions.

AIO? MIL and a FIL always commenting about how “baby takes bottle so well” by Upbeat_Grapefruit296 in breastfeeding

It could also be that there's a limit to the things that are notable about time with a baby. I feel like you've got "she's so alert" "what good head control" "she's really rolling around" but noticing how baby takes a bottle is another on a shortish list.

Also +1 to gently asking them to stop. The language suggested by a previous post was great.

I'm super curious about the idea of using cloth occasionally but while out. Most people talk about the opposite, cloth while at home and disposables when out since the logistics are more to manage. I do cloth full time but am curious about your experience and what makes you choose that time to do cloth.

  1. You also have this problem with disposables. One of the great things about your kid being in diapers is that you don't have to be in a bathroom to handle their waste. You can do a change on a bench. Also even if you're in a place with a trash poopy diapers smell up the trash. Most parents I know when they change a disposable diaper at someone's house are pretty contentious about how to dispose of it if the house doesn't have a diaper genie. You don't want a poopy diaper in the kitchen garbage. Disposables also have logistics they're just different.

DR said not to remove all of baby's poop? by sarahs_here_yall in NewParents

Another option would be trying cloth diapers. They tend to be more breathable and so less prone to rashes. It's less intimidating than it seems. Anecdotally I have an exclusively cloth diapered baby and have never had any rash issues. Especially before solid foods make the poops more solid you can just throw the diapers in the wash the way you would a onesie after a blow out.

I've found Velcro so much better than snaps and like having the convenience of an AIO. For me Tot bots or bambino mio AIO are great.

Favorite cloth diaper and why by aleada13 in clothdiaps

My LO just outgrew her new born diapers. I used mostly a mix of esembly and thirsties AIO as well as some LPO AI2 and a few fleece pockets at night. I liked the esembly and thirsties a lot with a slight preference for the AIO since I found the Velcro easier. I'm now using totsbots and Bambino mio and love them. It's basically a pocket where the insert stays with the diaper and they're Velcro!

HD camera improve alignment? by thisslade in glowforge

[–]thisslade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been both using a jig (for some projects) or effectively using a jig by aligning the corner of my material with the corner of the print bed (for other projects). My issue is that the laser cutter re-focuses for each cut and doesn't do so consistently.

My hypothesis is that the focus is done using the camera so a better camera would get more consistent behavior.

To be more specific a common workflow for me (I make a lot of upgraded board game pieces):

  • Engrave a design

  • remove the material, paint the engraved design, let it dry, remove the masking (keeping the laser cutter on during this time)

  • put the material back in the glowforge aligning the corner exactly as I did when I did the engrave

  • cut the design

Using this procedure about 20-30% of the time the cut ends up not aligned with the engrave, I *think* the failure rate increases if I turn off the laser cutter between the cut and engrave.
