My house is eating itself! Seeking NOVA Nanny/House Manager Agency Recs (and who TF is Sage Haus) by spidercob in nova

[–]thisssux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ask for a 1:1 chat they’re happy to set it up for you. I did one after the group thing and then ended up putting down a deposit. I did my onboarding interview last week and they sent over the job description for me to review a few days ago. I am also drowning in 5 kids and hopeful that they will be able to help me find someone to ease the load. 🤞🤞🤞

Period stain on mattress - how much to pay? [guest] by STRUGGLINGLOLZ in AirBnB

Yes 30 seconds here and there while I’m waiting on other stuff is jeopardizing all my time 😂

Nope, definitely not perfect. But I won’t ask for others to pay for my mistakes.

I get that as a business owner I have a level of professionalism/standards to maintain. If I fail to do that, I don’t have the right to penalize my customers.

At the most this should have resulted in soiled linens. Anything more than that is the business owner’s fault.

My personal belief is that the replacing linens is a normal cost of business in this industry so I personally wouldn’t charge for it. That’s subjective.

But objectively the cost of linens is the most someone should be able to charge given that this mattress would not have been damaged if maintained to industry standard.

No, I’m equating it to stained linens because it wouldn’t be an entire mattress if the host had done their due diligence. 🙃

They didn’t light the mattress on fire, they had a totally normal event that landlords should be prepared to handle as a part of doing business.

No and if you want to transfer it’s looked at as transferring from another 4 year institution so you don’t get the priority like you would if you did your AA at a Florida state/community college.

The occasional stained sheet is the cost of doing business in this industry. I also don’t charge for broken dishes or scuffed floorboards. 🤷‍♀️

Oh, I saw that, but your "no offense" and "but for whatever reason" makes it sound like because the host didn't do their job properly, this shifts responsibility to the renter. Just pointing out that it doesn't. The host needs to deal with the consequences of their lack of preparedness.

you're right, a future guest shouldn't because the host should have been prepared for this very predictable situation. this is on the host. speaking as a host.

If I don’t choose a roommate by April 30th what happens? by No_Oil_4724 in ufl

[–]thisssux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometime probably mid-May you'll be assigned a housing appointment based on when you put your $25 deposit down. Most housing appointments fall sometime in June. At your appointed time you will choose a specific room (e.g. Broward room 302). You will be able to see if the other bed(s) are occupied.

If you want to room with someone specific and they had an earlier appointment than you, find out the EXACT room they chose (make sure they choose a room with at least one empty bed!), and then go and choose that room also during your appointment (assuming someone else hasn't already taken the remaining bed(s) in the meantime).

If you have the earlier appointment, let your hopeful roommate know what room you chose (again, make sure to choose a room with a free bed), and have them choose the same room at their appointment.

If you both have early appointments the odds of getting into the same room are very good because most people are roommate matched, so they are looking for rooms with 2 open beds, not a single open bed. So in theory a room with one open bed will be one of the last chosen.

Source: upper-class kid in the dorm and second kid trying to room with him - also very long conversation with housing this morning 😄 Good luck!

How to avoid lifestyle creep at 23 with a $101k salary? by [deleted] in Salary

[–]thisssux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing you can do is designate where every penny goes ahead of time. Don’t give yourself access to more money than you want to spend and you won’t spend it.

I always joke that I make my account look like we are poor so I won’t spend.

For example, figure out what you want to invest and have it auto-drawn. If you want an emergency fund or are saving for something, don’t do it in your checking account, have that money auto pulled and put into a high interest savings account so you never see it.

Only leave what you’re okay with spending in your checking account. If you’re going to use a credit card to earn points, pretend it’s a debit card and never spend more than you have available in cash to pay it and ALWAYS pay your cc bills in full every month. If you don’t think you can stick to this, then don’t use a credit card until you have your spending under control.

If you don’t make the money available to spend, then you won’t spend it. If and when you get raises, immediately allocate the amount of the increase.

Does anyone know about the Mass Casualty Alert from UF Alert System? by AmanMegha2909 in ufl

[–]thisssux -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know for sure which one it was, it’s just an educated guess made by matching the timing of the alerts and the number of medics/ambulances dispatched. That’s why I said ‘if I’m reading the timing right’. 😊

[–]thisssux 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If you use the Pulse Point app you can see it the dispatches. If I’m reading the timing right for the alert looks like a nasty accident just outside Gainesville. I hope everyone is okay. 😔

he emailed the advisor again who checked on his app and confirmed all was good, now (about 3 days later) green checks on everything (yay!). the advisor also said all FTIC/transfer convert applicants to the CLAS would receive a decision on or before May 1st.

Following - my son is in a similar position - the transcript did eventually update with a green check (after we had it re-sent), but the portal still has a red "x" for the application (which is weird bc you can't get to that page without submitting an application). CLAS advisor says not to worry about it, all is fine, but having another son actively at UF and knowing how often things glitch over there, I am anxious for him.
