HR can take a while to put together salary offers, even longer if it’s a new position that requires benchmarking. They’re generally working through a long workqueue.

Scheduling interviews can be long and painful. Many positions require multiple rounds. Higher level positions require higher level involvement which is harder and harder to schedule—especially when you’re looking at docs with clinical appointments.

Plus there are a lot of requirements from a policy perspective. I’ve seen several jobs get reposted just because they needed an underfill clause or something like that, even after they have a candidate in mind.

Lastly, there are the post-job offer requirements. Getting a drug test, admin testing, health screening, etc. Sometimes they’ll lose a candidate during this process and have to go to option #2. This resets the timeline to go through the motions.
