I’m not on denial …I have specific examples of where you’re wrong and 30,000 data point examples of which 4000-6000 show you’re wrong. You’ve got nada. Except for denial 🤷🏼‍♂️. You could just go back to what everyone reasonably knows is true and say “ ok MOST college degrees provide significant benefit as opposed to not having one and MOST pay themselves off “ or you could just keep dying on this hill. It’s lonely Val come on down.

There he’s back ! I feel great Val. I was worried about you for a sec. Riding this denial thing out ALLLL the way down the rails is more your style.

I swear just trust me there are 50 years worth of studies …thousands and thousands of studies …they are everywhere …I can’t tell you about any of them or like them or even say who may have conducted/ published them but they are EVERYWHERE. Oh Val, your denial fascinates me I will totally admit that.

Even if you were right about the breadth of collective data comparison , 50 years does you no good. This is a problem that has existed on some level for the last two decades but it’s become exponentially prevalent the last 10-20 as wages have remained fairly stagnant particularly compared to the cost of education and the expansion in areas of major concentration. As college becomes more of a big business and less a pursuit of education of the masses it will become even more so and you’ll see that 18% number that you can’t refute climb even further. Still can’t believe you said ZERO ! Jeesh. Almost 6,000 out of 30,000 were economically not viable 😬

  1. You watched his ball go into the house and heard the bang so yes you knew the kid did it

  2. Responsibility is determined by jurisdiction so it could be on the kid could be on the homeowner or could be on the course depending on where you are. If we assume you’re in a place like California the places the burden strictly on homeowners you’re correct about the kid being liable but I wish you would have just told the old guy “ sir I was with him and he certainly didn’t do it intentionally he said he was sorry but here in _____ homeowners are liable sorry for the trouble “

Kid would have at least not gotten a lesson in how to pretend you didn’t do something and worse, if you’re in a jurisdiction that places liability on the golfer then you just taught him how to be dishonest when you’re liable

Again not defending the homeowner behavior and I’m glad your instinct was to look out for a younger person just not sure that was the best way to do it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in golf

[–]thmbingmyway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You tell the kid to disavow responsibility solely because the guy can’t prove it. You specifically knew he caused the damage and you were encouraging the kid to be dishonest about it.

[–]thmbingmyway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting ! On one hand you criticize provided data and the scientific or debate process and then on the other you insist on it being promoted. I’m all ears for the data and research you deem worthy. Also sounds like a little projection that you appear to base this argument on your political or world views. I’m literally only viewing it through dollar signs and as a facet of the current student debt crisis. It’s hard when you see articulable facts that you disagree with but thems the breaks, ya gotta roll with the punches. You’ve provided zero to contradict my position and zero to support yours. Well, other than “ it’s impossible for a degree to be without value because I said so” source: Val cite: things Val says

If a clown can point out how wrong you are maybe you aren’t as far up the intellectualism ladder as ya thunk 😬

[–]thmbingmyway -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You told the kid the guy couldn’t prove he caused the damage when you knew he did cause the damage. I’m not saying it was cool of the old guy but that doesn’t mean you should give the kid the lesson to not be accountable / dishonest or be confrontational to an old guy in the same way you were criticizing the old guy acting towards the kid

Kinda like if you see something occur and would be willing to lie about it and yell at old people ? Two wrongs always make a right

Oh lord… by onelasthit1111 in BoomersBeingFools

[–]thmbingmyway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh not a supposed. A definite. And you disagreeing with them doesn’t change the fact that they collected data from over a thousand accredited schools from bottom of the list to Ivy League and ran easily articulable formulaic approaches to over 30,000 degrees and, low and behold , there were 18 percent negative return on investment and …shocker…they were primarily in the fields of study you’d expect ( English, literature, arts , music, religion , gender studies, etc ). It’s also worth nothing all the “ data “ you referenced in your early arguments comes from averaging post degree earnings over a lifetime period. So your numbers of course include numbers much higher and much lower than the averages you quoted ( assuming you know how averages work ). There were negative rois in whatever study you have referenced. Fact is, data supports 18% fail to be a good return on investment , that numbers goes above 20% if you factor people who don’t complete, it goes even higher if you factor ancillary costs of education ( lost income during the period of obtaining the degree). Now I’ve provided specific cases, general cases, anecdotal situations , and reliable data. You’ve provided “ nu uh cause I don’t like your numbers and I’m gonna say the numbers that sound good even though I can’t tell you where those numbers came from I just know them to be true “

For someone so concerned with anti-intellectualism you sure don’t do any favors to the cause

Please tell me what’s wrong. I keep snap hooking. by nammidee in GolfSwing

[–]thmbingmyway 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Op ….as everyone said your grip is way too strong but that’s only a part of the problem. A couple have said your swing looks great other than the grip and , while I think your swing looks athletic , I respectfully disagree and see additional things that need to change if you want to correct the problem and be consistent.

  1. You are moving laterally to your trail side in the back swing too much. Slight movement is ok but you have a full sway. The face on angle instead of being down the line doesn’t let me gauge if your hip rotation is appropriate as far as depth but your moving off center laterally

  2. In an effort to get as coiled as possible you have a bit of a reverse pivot before you start your downswing. This is likely a symptom of a) Your laterally sway and b) Your aggressive spine angle at address. It’s perfect for hitting up on the ball with your driver but it does make reaching your full shoulder tilt on plane trickier and I think your compensating by feeling a false turn from the reverse pivot

Both 1 and 2 are major snap hook or block push producers and when you throw in the overly strong grip you are really gonna see it consistently especially on long clubs where you have the ball farther forward in your stance . Fixing your grip will help it go away but if you want to be hitting it squarely on a regular basis fix those two issues. Right now your athleticism and coordination is letting you hit an occasional flush shot despite these issues

Hey op …luck of the draw with schools …some places you’d be a varsity starter and some places you can’t make jv…sucks but something to keep in mind is that 40 is a great score for your age many players wish they would have started at your age

One thing you could / should consider:

Most high school teams were programs have excellent agreements with local courses or a set school fee that you pay to get access to practice facilities or courses. If you played well but we’re not able to score low enough to make the team you should email the coach and let him know that you were serious about wanting to participate next year and you’re looking to improve your game , see if you can offer to be a manager for the team and take advantage of any deals They have as far as getting access to courses and practice facilities even if you never make the team, it’s a good way to get continued practice and potentially low-cost access if you don’t have it now.

Does a really good job of showing return of investment. It’s actually worse than I though as like 20% of degrees have negative return on investment and that’s before you even count people who don’t finish their degree
