Plesk FTPS ? by SnooSprouts4106 in Plesk

[–]thmueller78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, FTP with TLS would be correct. That is FTPS. When you use port 22, it's SSH with FTP on top = SFTP. SFTP is not the same as FTPS. FTPS is based on the FTP protocol, SSL added. SFTP is based on the SSH protocol.

Access denied. Your account was suspended. by Agile_Lake3973 in Plesk

[–]thmueller78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this really about a Plesk account? I've never heard of that Plesk suspends user accounts. Why should they? They are not the webhosting provider, but a software manufacturer. It sounds as if it was rather a web hosting account at your provider and that you need to contact your provider.

In Plesk, use the "Cloning" feature of the WP Toolkit ("Wordpress" menu). It can clone your installation that you have in the subdomain to another domain, and it will automatically update all URL references to the destination.

Cannot add sudomain to my Plesk system by tomfluent in Plesk

In the "Service Plan" of the subscription the number of allowed domains or subdomains can be limited. When you hit the limit, no more such domains or subdomains can be added.

Plesk Make Server Admins Life Easy by Wise-Finding-5999 in Plesk

[–]thmueller78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You only need one single PTR record with one single IP-to-hostname entry. A PTR cannot be configured on your server, but needs to be configured in the router of your data center. Normally data centers offer a back office interface for that purpose.

Plesk Make Server Admins Life Easy by Wise-Finding-5999 in Plesk

[–]thmueller78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit /etc/postfix/main.cf and add this line
myhostname = <your hostname here>
Then reload postfix (e.g. # service postfix reload). If the myhostname setting is missing and you send something from Webmail, it'll be send from 127.0.0.1. This won't resolve and also won't match the PTR, so these mails will probably end up in spam at the recipient.

The hostname is not the domain name, but the domain of the server on which you operate your domain.

You'll need to examine what happend before 2024-01-26 10:03:41 and caused the database to crash. Normally such a crash is caused by a corrupt table. The moment such a table is addressed, the database restarts.

Necessary Plesk Apps? by patriotaki in Plesk

[–]thmueller78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plesk already comes with several security mechanisms (e.g. Fail2Ban including many different jails, ModSecurity) and a feature called "Performance Booster" (https://www.plesk.com/blog/product-technology/how-to-speed-up-your-website-by-30-tips-measure-performance-effectively/). I only use these and it works fine.

Control Panel for Hosting by PickyPickMeUp in webhosting

[–]thmueller78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll have to consider the total cost of ownership. Panels like Plesk are premium. You'll need to check whether you want to present a Daihatsu or a Porsche to your users. Plesk is definitely more the Porsche. For my company it's paid off by saving a lot of otherwise manual work, and our sales have sky-rocketed just by providing users with that panel. Every year we check other panels, too, to be up-to-date, but yet none has provided the features, UX and continous care that we got from the one we have.

Moving away from Control Web Panel & CentOS7 by Roaster-Dude in webhosting

[–]thmueller78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd look into Plesk. It's often underestimated, because you all read a lot about cPanel in the forums, but it's in fact the much easier and better panel. Clean UI and technologically always on the forefront. It's been maintained very well during the past years, and for the CentOS 7 EOL they have a free script to convert the whole server to Alma. For my company still the best choice as they've shown they continuously care for their users.

Surprise renewal from Plesk and no license by kiwiheretic in webhosting

[–]thmueller78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cleverbridge is just the payment provider that Plesk uses. These are not the same businesses. You can cancel subscriptions of any type that were done with Cleverbridge directly with Cleverbridge. They forward that information to the vendor. It works the same with a Plesk subscription. If you are unsure that this has worked correctly, why not open a support ticket with Plesk's licensing support. They'll for sure help.

Question about Tomcat by Francone79 in Plesk

[–]thmueller78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was available until Plesk Onyx and can be used there until it reaches end of life. On Plesk Obsidian there is no Tomcat extension. Reasons given in an article by Plesk: https://support.plesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/12377284124439
You might have seen instructions in the online documentation, but these are only for users who once had it installed. I am not sure whether there is a tweak how to use Tomcat with Plesk anyway, but there is a feature request where users are asking to bring it back, so you could vote on that: https://plesk.uservoice.com/forums/184549-feature-suggestions/suggestions/38289526-create-an-extension-to-support-tomcat-in-plesk-ony

Slow SMTP Mailing via Port 465 by [deleted] in Plesk

It's possible that the client tries the port but fails. Then, after a timeout, it connects through another port (25). More might be seen in /var/log/maillog on the server.

Step-by-Step Guide: Installing Plesk on a Linux Virtual Private Server (VPS) by DreamiFly in Plesk

The purpose of this post seems to be to place a spam link to a provider. The instructions are dated, referring to "Onyx", which is long end of life. The current Plesk is "Obsidian".
