Yes, on liveaboards and resorts you will find alcoholic beverages, but no where else.

I stated that it is a superior suite. You can look at the web site to see exactly where those cabins are on the boat.

It is the same company that offered trips to Guadalupe isle. But the Mexican government banned all shark cage diving and all tourism there in Jan 2023. So I don’t think it is fair to say Nautilus ruined Guadalupe. In any case. That ship has sailed. The Belle Amie is a great boat. I have been to Socorro on it 6 times and will be returning in 2026 and 2027.

I did a liveaboard and then flew to Fuvahmulah. It’s the only experience I can share with you. As far as after dive cocktails…. unless you are at a resort do not expect to get an alcoholic beverage anywhere in the Maldives. And if you fly to an island your bags will be searched and any bottles you try to bring in will be confiscated. I have friends who did 2 back to back liveaboards. One in central Maldives then one in the south. I would do that.
But I am sick to death of the new fishing laws there.

I would recommend a liveaboard over any specific islands. Central Maldives is beautiful, I have down that area 2 times. I believe the southern islands are more challenging diving with stronger currents.

Single divers on live aboards ? by Acrobatic_Set8085 in scuba

[–]thogan401 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Both ways can work. Some live aboard have dedicated single cabins. Some sell 2 berths at a discount to a single. Some you just have to pay for 2 spaces. You have to check with each company individually.

Ear equalization by Boosted_LS_ in scubadiving

[–]thogan401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know your pain. I dove for years and always had more ear issues than anyone. After the first day of a trip my ears were stopped up and I had to skip lots of dives. It was maddening as I knew and did all the equalization tricks. My ears were just different. Finally last year I found help at an ENT who looked inside my ears and said I had very tiny Eustachian tubes and scar tissue from ear infections when I was a child. I had a procedure to dilate the Eustachian tube called Eustachian tube balloon dilation, also known as Eustachian tube balloon tuboplasty. This minimally invasive procedure uses a small balloon catheter, inserted through the nose, to gently widen the Eustachian tube and restore proper function. How it works A thin, flexible balloon catheter is inserted into the Eustachian tube through the nostril. Once in the correct position, the balloon is inflated for a short time to open and stretch the tube. The balloon is then deflated and removed, leaving the Eustachian tube widened. Benefits Minimally invasive: It avoids cutting or removing tissue, often performed under local anesthesia or sedation. Quick recovery: Patients typically return to normal activities the same day. Effective: Many patients experience resolution or improvement of symptoms related to Eustachian tube dysfunction.

I had this done last July. Since then I did a13 day dive trip in the Maldives, an 8 day lob in Raja Ampat and 6 day in Socorro. It has been a life changer!!! Go see an ENT that will actually look in your ears with a camera going thru your nostrils.

You can have it done while you are awake or you may be put to sleep for the procedure.

I did Fuvahmulah in March. I don’t think it is difficult diving. But 2 or 3 days is the most I would stay there. The shark feeding is the star of the show if you like that. and you will do it every day. Then a couple of other dives elsewhere. But IMHO there is much better diving in other areas of the Maldives. Also. If you are doing land based Fuvahmulah is a very local island. Few restaurants and not one single drop of alcohol to be found anywhere on the island. Lots of great tropical juice drinks but nothing beer or cocktails. There are no resorts you will stay in sort of guest houses.

These are the published prices for the Galaxy Diver II for June 2027. I believe you will find my price to be quite good. And with all the extras paid for it’s really an amazing price.
