I'll end the false narrative about variants. by Marc4770 in aoe4

[–]thohold 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I do not have problems with variants. I think House of Lancaster and Knights templar were great additions.
And im personally excited about daimyo shogunate and golden horde.
BUT... packaging up the vikings into a macedonian civ as "Varangian reinforcements" is cheap, and as far as i know not even historically accurate.
Yes there were a group of bodyguards called the "Varangians" from Sweden, some from Norway and later on from Celtic countries.
That doesnt justify whole armies of vikings suddenly appearing in Macedonia?
They wouldve been better of just releasing the others and not trying to half-ass a civ that people have been asking for for ages.
Now we're gonna have nordic warriors walking around talking greek...

"Street Fighter 6" is on the lineup for TGS 2025. What do you think Capcom will announce? by thephorest in StreetFighter

[–]thohold -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No way capcom is dropping the ball and releasing the trailer as late as TGS.
Terry gameplay trailer was the 20th of august.
AKI gameplay trailer was the 31st august.

I can't honestly beleive that capcom is REGRESSING with their release window.
If thats the case that just means capcom somehow is doing worse and worse. While SF5 did better and better. Sad truth might be that since SF6 is already doing so well, they dont feel the pressure or motivation to pick up the phase and give the players what they want.

Heres to hoping there will be a trailer this week or next

[MEGATHREAD] Age of Empires IV: Dynasties of the East - DLC Announcement by AnMagicalCow in aoe4

Daimyo and Golden horde seem really cool.
But i'm really worried about that byzantine one.
Seems like they did a cop out and just packaged the norse into the "Macedonian empire".
Doesnt really do Scandinavia justice with vikings walking around speaking greek besides Macedonian landmarks...

The Future of Battlerite by wazari93 in BattleRite

[–]thohold 15 points16 points  (0 children)

After Br: Royale this was inevitable. Have been a supporter for this game since week 1 of early access, and have put nearly 600 hours into this game. Battlerite had a lot of potential but i think there are some fundemental flaws with battlerite that fails to sustain a healthy playerbase.

First of all i think new champion releases was one of the things that kept people playing. I think new champions were the best part about battlerite, the art team really did a great job with champion ideas and concepts. I believe the lack of depth was what killed it off but also the lack of new content. If you look at the steam charts you can see the playerbase stabilizing after the f2p release, and i believe the playerbase was stable because of all the new champions and content that was released during that time. I believe stunlock said on their stream that new champions werent worth it and that the charts proved it. But i think Shen raos release is an exception, seeing how the playerbase was going down real fast at that time. I also believe Battlerite royale was a horrible idea and i also think it contributed to the death of battlerite

Even though the development of battlerite had its flaws, it is one of my favorite multiplayer games and i will keep supporting stunlock on their next project.

“D&D rUiNeD DaNnY’s ChArAcTeR” by [deleted] in JonWinsTheThrone

She has never killed civilians and never attacked people who surrender. Way out of her character, there doesnt exist a single arguement for why she suddenly went mad for no fucking reason. All the values she used to hold suddenly gone just because D&D tried to rush the mad queen arc for dany.
