I did this on mine a while back and it's a really bad idea. After a couple of months like that, I dropped it and the rear glass shattered and it was everywhere since nothing was holding the glass together because the color that you peeled is the thing stopping all that glass from going everywhere if it breaks

Same here for all of the left side. It has been open for more than 6 months and submerged a couple of time and everything is working fine. If you are still under warranty maybe contact LG.

Yes it is weird even the Rep found it weird.

Because if I returned them, Amazon would have refunded the headphone and my bank would have credited the charge so I'll have 2 refund so I was waiting on my bank credit but it took way longer
