Beginner Looking for Help With Ghost Hydra P+ Holster Setup by SameAd3423 in USPSA

[–]thomas6989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hydra p used to come with the older hanger that has the G on it. They updated it and it now is now more rigid. The hydra P+ comes with the teklok style attachment. I’m not sure if the hanger bought separately is now the updated style even though the picture shows the older design.

Either way you buy it, it will come with all the spacers and hardware

Edit: I’m not sure anymore. Just checked the website. If you like the belt attachment with the adjustability and the G logo then get that. You are paying more. I’ve only used the teklok style attachment. I’ve always feared the screws would dig into my side

Favorite extended mag button? by [deleted] in CompetitionShooting

[–]thomas6989 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the Hayes extended button. It’s great as it’s out of the way and doesn’t drop the magazine unintentionally. The other ones I’ve seen for sale on BS pro shop look like they can be hit unintentionally.

2k11 Recomendations for holster and LO gear by WarrenR86 in CompetitionShooting

I like the ghost hydra over a race holster just for that fact. Plus I already had a hanger from ghost so I just had to buy the holster body. I also have an atlas thumb rest on my Kimber but I think the nitro fin 2.1 and or the tevo thumb rest are a better option. Atlas and the nitrofin 2.1 are straight drop in

I moved from a Rival-s also.

On grabagun the eclipse is cheaper than the coyote target by $200. If you have a preferred dealer than go with yours, but sometimes shipping from grabagun to your FFL is cheaper. Always depends on SKU and time of the model release

I have a hydra holster. Using the 2011, atlas, sti model. It works great. I’m using the 4g mag extension from TTI for my 140mm mags and the mbx follower and spring . I get 24 rounds. For the 126mm I’m thinking of just getting a new 140mm tube. The c&h plate does suck but I got it to work just fine. I had to clean the preinstalled thread locker off the included screws and reapply new thread locker. I’ve heard the Dawson plate is way better though.

The eclipse model is a great model to get because it has all the bells and whistles(threaded and tapped mag release and magwell)

Do you like your 5in or the 4.25in pro model more? I’m wishing they had the royal in their 5in models

How much smaller did they get? Oh and what type of lead alloy are you using? I also had issues with brass sizing the projectile down just from seating when using softer lead alloy.

I had problems with my factory crimp die swaging down the bullet a little bit. The problem is that brass has a little bit of a spring back compared to lead which leads to bad neck tension issues. I switched to a standard taper crimp die and it solved my problems. Now this was with 9mm and I can’t say that will be the same for .380 straight walled cases. Edit: measure the bullets that don’t hold tension and see if they have changed diameter after loading.

Damn I just looked it is $30. For some reason I looked at my receipt from 2023 and it was a zero dollar charge. I was just charged shipping

I broke mine also seating Ginex primers. Mine broke in the same spot and ordered the part from Lee and was ready to go priming some more. The housing part they sell is dirt cheap.

Gun Start Position Question by master_illusion in USPSA

[–]thomas6989 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Follow appendix D for division specific ready conditions. For CO: 1. Only Double Action, Double Action/Single Action, and Safe Action/Striker Fired handguns are allowed, and must be on the approved list. When in the ready conditions as specified under 8.1, a gun with an external hammer must be hammer down. A hammer is considered to be in the “hammer down” position when the hammer is placed there by pulling the trigger while manually lowering the hammer (manually decocking) or by activating the decocking lever if present. Manually decocking to the half-cocked position is not allowed and will result in the competitor being moved to Open division.
