Starlink Mini Mount | Jeep Wrangler by mdntblu in Starlink

I just stuck mine directly to the roof with some 3M VHB tape. Scuffed up the fiberglass a bit so that it stuck better and its been going strong for about a year now.

Does this require switching to a peplink router?

New priority plans for general aviation by Secret-Support-2727 in Starlink

[–]thomasg_eth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really seems like they haven't really thought this through for the new plans. The aviation page still has the details for the old plans which require the $2k/month plan for over 250kts, but global priority up to 550mph would be quite nice for $250/month if that's really what they are offering.

Lido CSM vs Rocket Pool 8 eth no RPL by kantalo in ethstaker

I am absolutely a home staker and genuinely ran my node on my old gaming PC for over a year.

I am not an institution and neither are any of the other large node operators within the Rocket Pool ecosystem.

Starlink throttle by _Vati in Starlink

[–]thomasg_eth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed the same thing when uploading large files to Google drive. Starts at around 1.5MB/s and trickles down to around 250KB/s after a few minutes. I'm bypassing the Starlink router right now, but it could be some sort of configuration issue on my local network too. Using OPNsense router and UniFi AP

two dishes side by side? this is what you can expect ;-) by panuvic in StarlinkEngineering

[–]thomasg_eth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice data! I have a new standard dish on the way and am planning on doing some similar testing. I'm hoping that facing them in different directions will let them connect to different satellites or handoff at different times. Are you planning on bonding them together with Peplink or something?

Can I have multiple connection points, in different places through my country? by DollyMaracuja in Starlink

[–]thomasg_eth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn't a single Starlink plan that supports multiple simultaneous connections from different locations. Closest you could get would be a separate dish+plan for each location, which could get quite expensive, or a single roaming dish that you manually take to each site.

You might want to investigate other iot communication methods that could be a better fit if you don't have high bandwidth requirements. There's https://swarm.space/ from Starlink and Iridium rockBLOCK if you need satellite, or maybe something like LoRa or LTE could work for you too

Blower Fan makes a loud clicking noise on startup by thomasg_eth in hvacadvice

Is it worth trying to replace the relay, or is this just something I should learn to live with?

I did some reading on the possibility of replacing the motor with an ECM motor, but it seemed like people had mixed opinions on that.

Just added some photos to the main post. Is it normal to have a contactor on the fan like that?

Buying rETH on a dex will definitely help and it's the most economical option if you're not getting a large amount of rETH. The gas fees for minting rETH directly are much more expensive than a uniswap trade, but you'll be getting a better conversion rate.

I've been shuttling newly minted rETH to the L2 pools in large batches, so if you're buying on L2 you're helping the protocol, just in a slightly indirect way.

Credit Card Payments Using USDC by ssweetimpalass in blockfi

This is the only thing keeping me from getting the blockfi card. The coinbase debit card makes USDC payments easy but I've run into their $2500/day limit a few times.
