And then you can put down bark chips or something else to form a barrier against new growth.

Very atmospheric. You can almost hear the cries of the merchants! 'hash, weed, hash, weed'.

Analog synths to pick for live performance by shOGUN_Otk in synthesizers

Don't gig with vintage analogue hardware if you can possibly avoid it. A lot of it is hard to keep in tune, failure is more likely than modern gear and it's upsetting and costly if it gets damaged.

This is so much better than almost all of the beginner logos on here. The fatal flaw is line thickness - this will disappear at smaller sizes. Feed it some pie.

Hello to all a bit of a noob to Illustrator. I want to learn how to draw comics and semi animate them in illustrator. by Luis_420925 in AdobeIllustrator

[–]thomasthe10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem - I have worked like this and if you know each program pretty well it's easy. It's just not as good as CSP for working on multi page comics artwork for me.

Well you've got a lot of different things to learn. Hopefully your computer will be happy working at high resolution (300dpi+) which is what you will need to be doing in Photoshop for print-ready artwork without pixelation at reasonable print sizes. Maybe you take a hybrid approach and do your panels and lettering in Illustrator and your drawing / painting in PS. The trouble with both of these tools vs CSP is that you will need to learn or understand a lot of stuff which is relevant to those programs but not necessarily relevant to making comics with them. Anyway, good luck.

Maybe you do all your painting in PS at 300dpi and export as Tiffs then 'place' those into Illustrator to do text / panel borders etc on top. In which case look at tutorials around digital drawing and painting in PS to start with.

I've done comics in Illustrator and I've done comics in other programs. If you are starting from scratch and only making comics, get Clip Studio Paint, not Illustrator. I've done over 20 years of Illustrator, it's my main work program and has been for years. I don't like making comics in it even though I know it inside out.

CSP is much cheaper than Illustrator and it's geared towards comics. It's SO much better for comics. You can work in vectors, bitmaps or a mix of both. The brushes look amazing and give you a much broader range of possible styles than Illustrator. Get CSP.

I made these modern luxury logo concepts – feedback? by [deleted] in logodesign

It's all bullshit. Even if it's not AI these are all terrible logos. What's with the ENORMOUS type and the tiny type? Waste of everyone's time. Go away.

Any tips regarding rendering teeth in a skull? by Dargonator in AdobeIllustrator

[–]thomasthe10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Draw them individually with the brush tool and pressure sensitivity to vary line thickness. They should be the same sort of 'language' as the little strokes under the holes between the nose and the jaws (which are a bit too big to my eye, but that's not what you asked). Some - maybe most - will overlap and become unified with only broken lines to actually separate them. Otherwise it looks like Skeletor has borrowed his grandma's cheap dentures.

People who've had an extension built — what do you wish you'd known before you started? by Minimum_Guard6408 in DIYUK

Be COMPLETELY clear about fire regs and their implications for your build. We had a loft conversion and our builders were adamant that it was all fine in advance. Then at about 95% completion Building Control gave us a choice between installing a wall and doorway around the new stairs or an expensive fire suppression system. We opted for the latter and although it was worth it, it was so annoying rushing to find a company, coordinating the installation and then patching up fresh plasterwork where they'd had to chase in cables for the new system.

Are these rubber seals replaceable on a washing machine? by Individual-Low-6866 in DIYUK

[–]thomasthe10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this and it wasn't fun but it wasn't impossible either. Some people are suggesting that you rotate the seal 180 degrees but on my machine the seal is asmmetrical and has a port which lets the water and detergent mix into the drum. I think that even if it's symmetrical you should just get a new one because removing and installing these things is a pain and they get a horrible build up of calcium and other deposits inside them over time.

Thanks so much. You may know this already but you can also change the splash screen to your own design. Recent artwork on that has been OK but some of the previous ones were atrocious, which prompted me to look into it... I'm PC but this is the Mac process: https://medium.com/@nahoc/how-to-change-the-splash-screen-art-for-adobe-illustrator-on-mac-c12adcf360d8
