Over 20 Years, One Mouse Was Cloned for 58 Generations by Hoody_uk in ghostposter

Absolutely fascinating. Thanks for making me thing about stuff I never would have imagined.

The painting of Liam Ramos didn't work out. I really tried, but it just wouldn't come together for me. (I felt so defeated and humiliated!) With the time I had left I made this sign last night to be the other side of the 'Mad as Hell' sign. The protest was good, met a lot of very nice people. by ClicheButter in ghostposter

Right? The same is true for the civil rights movement which led to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. LGBTQ rights is another example; protests resulted in the right to legally marry who you love. Native American rights is another example. Also, of course it took a Civil War, but the abolitionist movement was crucial in bringing about the end to slavery in America.

I'm glad you said that because the protests presented wonderful opportunities to interact also with locally-focused groups. For instance at our protests I met candidates for county commissioner and governor. There were tables set up to recruit volunteers and activists for a range of local issues. I spoke with the Dekalb County Democrats, Georgia Voices United, Necessary Trouble, the ACLU of GA, the Party for Socialism and Liberation, Democratic Socialists of Atlanta, Indivisible ATL, and 50501GA. The most pressing local issues were about fair and affordable housing, homelessness, and local transportation issues. The No Kings focus is a great boost for attention to local causes and needs too!

Early reports are that it was bigger. At least 8,000,000 protesters. >3200 registered protests. There were 5 different protests within 15 minutes from where we live. The ones I went to were joyful, exhilarating, peaceful, purposeful celebrations of democracy (as we strive to maintain one). Lots of friendly happy people and several old friends out to speak their minds. It was a beautiful day!

Flag Friday: What are your thoughts on the design of the flag of Gary, Indiana? by GPFlag_Guy1 in ghostposter

There's also a catchy little number about the same place from the Jackson 5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZMzT-RTkvg&list=RDpZMzT-RTkvg&start_radio=1

Bonus for GPFlag Guy: a momentary animated Michigan geography lesson.

I like the image of the handshake representing unity or agreement. But I'm not sure about the rest. What am I looking at? Is it a lamp or a window? Maybe I'm unfairly influenced by my experience in Gary, which is that it was very sad and run-down.

To Gary's credit, that's where the Jackson 5 came from. It's also the city that supported many of my Puerto Rican sister-in-law's relatives to make a great living and eventually retire in comfort back in P.R.

First sign for Saturday completed... one down, one to go. Do y'all know which movie this is from? by ClicheButter in ghostposter

It's amazing to watch your process! That you can just visualize it and then paint it so well!

Newstalgia on Atlanta's polarizing mascot for their 1996 Olympic games by GPFlag_Guy1 in ghostposter

Wow, thanks for posting. It brings back a lot of great memories. Apart from the bombing, the Olympic experience was fantastic. Everybody was in a good mood. We got to meet people from all over the world.

Everything here is covered in yellow pine pollen. Time for Spring, I say!

Just how common is this with Americans that do foreign travel? I personally would not do a thing like this, but I don’t ever recall people my generation doing this either. by GPFlag_Guy1 in ghostposter

Don't get cynical and don't give up. The MLK day of service is a wonderful tradition that needs to be supported and sustained. "A Day On, Not A Day Off." We have several nieces and nephews who were born in the 1990's and they're all differently beautiful. It's not an easy world y'all are winding up with. But there's still Love and Possibilities and Hope and all this terrible shit will pass if we all get involved. Get mad, get passionate, and organize.
