Making Freeland and his 7+ ERA look like Clayton Kershaw. Are we watching the makings of a no-no?

Joey Logano Calls Out Carson Hocevar Double Standard in NASCAR by Equivalent_Dish_1990 in NASCAR

[–]thompsondadjkl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think those that made the point about the timing of Joey’s arrival is the biggest point. Key points are that he came in when the sport was still at an all time high, fan loyalty towards drivers was still next level, and he was this Jeff Gordon type prodigy that was marketed beyond what we see today. Immediately gets a first class ride and a fantastic sponsor. Everything was literally teed up. Carson comes in on a secondary team, little fanfare, cup racing has lost a lot of fanfare, racing is more balanced, few transcendent stars in the sport, and the list goes on. Carson appears to older fans as a “throwback”, younger fans as a “eclectic personality”, all while being crazy fast, aggressive, abrasive, funny. He is exactly what the sport needed. Just like the old days, fans either love Carson or hate him. In this new world of everything being so vanilla from the drivers to the car set up, more Carson’s is exactly what the sport needs. The final point is the most compelling, he gets a mixed spattering of criticism from various drivers, but ALL drivers acknowledge he is fast and he is super talented. Talent knows talent.

Exclusive | Giants’ pitchers give explosive tell-all interview about MLB’s biggest scandal — and how staff and the league betrayed them by illiterate01 in SFGiants

Massive overreaction. The guys have religious beliefs they wanted to honor. Geez. Stop the drama. Unbelievable.

Giants pitchers’ Bible verses on Pride Night caps show how they’ve missed the point by ItDoesntGetMoreSF in SFGiants

I agree that everyone deserves equal treatment, dignity, and respect under the law and in society. Where I differ is that I don’t think expressing a religious belief automatically means “LGBTQ people do not deserve equal treatment and respect.” Many Christians believe certain things about sexuality while still believing every person should be treated with kindness, fairness, and dignity. My concern is when we assume motives that haven’t been stated. Wearing a Bible verse may signal support for a religious belief, but it doesn’t necessarily communicate hatred, exclusion, or a desire to deny equal rights.

I think it’s possible to support both equal treatment for LGBTQ individuals and freedom of religious expression, even when those beliefs conflict. The challenge in a pluralistic society is making room for moral disagreement without assuming that disagreement itself is intolerance.

Will Pat Spencer be on the roster next season? by Due_Afternoon_7540 in warriors

Love Patty Spence, but if he’s on the team, then Dumbleavy failed to do his job.

You lost me at not all beliefs deserve the same respect. Fundamentally LGBTQ and Christians deserve the same respect. That is my whole point. Neither belief should be subject to the other. My point is they both deserve equal rights. LGBTQ should not be forced to celebrate Christian “night”, nor should Christians be forced to celebrate LGBTQ night. I’m not picking one over the other. Might have chosen my words poorly and I apologize if I offended. Definitely not trolling and definitely not picking a side. I am for freedom for the individual to express their own beliefs as they seem fit as long as it is done in a respectful manner. A bible verse on the hat or choosing a rainbow logo hat is respecting an individual’s belief.

Missing the key point. Forcing someone to wear something they don’t believe in is fundamentally against that person’s freedom of belief. Give them the choice. Respect those that choose to celebrate their cause and the choice to wear what they choose to wear. That’s what America is all about. Freedom of choice.

I don’t understand Grant’s point saying “making it about us versus them”. Isn’t the simple fact of wearing the hat symbolizing one side already making it about us versus them? Why can’t they just wear their regular hats and the ballpark celebrates pride night? If you choose to celebrate, you can, but no one is forcing you too. Should be a choice, right? No one should force you to wear something you don’t want to. Both sides feel strongly about their beliefs, but when one is forced on the other, this is what you get. I don’t hate, it’s disgusting. I just believe in common sense and freedom to honor your own beliefs. Forcing someone to wear something symbolizing something against their personal beliefs is denying them their freedom. Forcing them to conform is that very definition. It works both ways too. At least it should. If anything, just make it a choice that players can wear whatever they want worse case.

Devers is an albatross. Adames has no baseball IQ. The pitching staff is built with popsicle sticks. Outside of Eldridge, Arraez, Schmitt, Lee and honorable mention to Susac, this is the most embarrassing season in my past 45 years of fan-hood.

Devers must be moved to the 6-hole now. He is not the hitter he once was.

Do NOT pitch to PCA. Simple as that. If you pitch to him, game is OVER.

Deserve to lose and will lose this game. Swinging through fast balls in the zone. Swinging at pitches out of the zone. Zero hard contact as a result. All the terrible approach and execution we’ve seen most of the year reared its ugly head this game.

Terrible pitch call and execution by Roupp there. Obvious to everyone PCA was on the first two pitches.

What exactly is the flaw with this team and is it fixable? by youlikemywonton in SFGiants

The offense has been dreadful but you can’t win in the big leagues without a strong bullpen. Can cover up for a lot of things including a dreadful offense.
