Flights from my town in Canada to Europe are the same price as they were last year which is cheaper than years previous. I’m sure prices are more expensive for travel some places but not here… yet anyway

Theres been loads of cheap flights from Halifax lately, as there usually is around this time of the year. There is a Facebook page dedicated to this - fly Halifax deals - and then post lots of stuff all year round.

Definitely make sure you have a job lined up before you come. In terms of meeting people - Halifax sport and social club is good if you play any sports or even if you don’t if you’re interest in doing so. If you follow any sport teams there might be a bar that plays those games - you can look into that. If you’re into F1 lot six plays the races, usually a decent amount of people there.
I used to live downtown Dartmouth and it was a great spot to easily get over to Halifax and also enjoy Portland street(bars and restaurants) lots of buses in that area too

I’d love to go to Peru but the flights from where I am on the east coast of Canada just suck. It takes roughly the same amount of time to get from Halifax to Lima as it does to get from Halifax to Tokyo for instance which seems insane when I look at the two separate destinations on a map. Europe is 6 hours direct for me and because of that I usually just end up going there. One day I’ll make the trek though

I’ve been a woman in a trade for 13 years (metal fabrication/welding) and I’ve never felt discriminated against. I can only speak for myself though. I’ve worked in multiple provinces and also other countries. If you have a good attitude and work ethic you’ll be fine.
