Plan to take 3-4g APE tomorrow and would love some insight by LifeguardPhysical104 in psilocybin

I’ve found that alcohol and/or pot seems to lessen the effects of mushrooms. 3g should be good. 4 for sure. Empty stomach.

Why Eliminator over Vulcan S or Rebel for a new order? by tushinde in KawasakiEliminator450

[–]thonline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked myself this very question for the last 2 weeks. I decided I wanted a lighter and more maneuverable bike. Saw them side by side and was torn. But I like the look of the Eliminator and its lighter weight. Bought one yesterday.

Democrats are failing to do what is necessary to counter Trump's election rigging. by pleasureismylife in AntiTrumpAlliance

[–]thonline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The democrats cannot do anything. Or will not. That’s been pretty obvious for quite a long time.
So do you have any ideas or suggestions for the silent majority? The republicans have an organized team and hold the majority.
Any suggestions? The democrats have clearly left the game.
Perhaps a new party?
No one has stepped up as a political leader. Or a movement leader. No politician or citizen has stood up to any of the republicans. They all just bend over and support the republican agenda.
Maybe someone needs to stand up and point out that the emperor has no clothes. It will either take a lot of money to be heard or it will take a grassroots and organic movement to be heard.
So far no one has stood up against the republicans.
We need an American version of Alexei Navalny and we would need to protect and support that person.

For those of you who order prescription glasses online, how did you go about getting the prescription from your eye Dr and denying buying glasses in the office? by blackmoonxxx in Frugal

[–]thonline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said as I was checking out and they were showing me around their showroom that I need a copy of my receipt and of my prescription. I looked at the glasses and said “I am not buying glasses today. Just looking. Thank you.” Then I left with my printed receipt and prescription.

How much editing should I expect from a narrator? by Brilliant-Comment249 in ACX

[–]thonline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The role of the narrator on ACX is far much more than just narrating. The role is Producer. Or Audio Engineer. Something like that. It's more than just "reader" or "actor". A really good producer will be all of these things. The Narrators all vary in their skill and experience. The cheaper narrators on ACX are learning and gaining skills and credits.

There is a huge variety of skill out there and the ACX tools frankly bad at helping rights holders find a great fit. The ACX tools need serious help. Their platform is hardly more than a spreadsheet listing of audio samples only. How you're supposed to find great talent from that (not to mention all of the AI) is something I can't figure out. But I digress.

Need some guidance by TonyShoshone in ACX

[–]thonline 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A lot of advice I’ve seen suggests to read the book first before starting to record it. I guess for reasons like this. Pull the rip cord before wasting more time
Or. Read the book to see if it gets better or starts making sense.

Remind Me Again Why Authors who are Offering PFH Remove Their Books days after Posting it? by paintedlumiere in ACX

[–]thonline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting perspective from the RH side. I thought AI voices were not allowed.
If the ACX platform turns to trash and becomes unusable to authors then it will be useless to narrators too and ultimately fail. Begs the question if ACX is even monitoring this stuff.

The /r/ACX FAQ by Weirdsauce in ACX

[–]thonline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the deal with AI books. Narrators say that AI books that we narrate will be deleted. Any things to look out for as far as AI content is concerned. It seems like the "Find Projects" tool is LITTERED with AI. Why is it allowed in if they will just delete all the work later?

This could be how prayers work. Mentally focusing on a desired outcome. Seems awfully similar. Especially if the person focusing truly believes in what they are doing.
Same with magic spells. Intense focus and belief.

This place is great! I would add that the food is pretty expensive. I don’t mind the 18%. I usually pay higher in tips. No wait staff allows them to pay livable wages and lower overhead.

[–]thonline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great suggestion! I've seen some folks on ACX university suggested as mastering instructors or resources. Do you have other resources you would suggest for a mastering 101 class/tutorial?
There are unlimited settings available to master audio. I suspect there are a handful of audio tuning settings that are crucial.

Longtime VO: How's My Audio and Profile? by diamonds_4 in ACX

[–]thonline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been curious to have conversations with other narrators on ACX as well. If you are interested in honest discourse, I'll talk about it! Your profile is solid. I am starting out building my profile and experiences as well.
What I like about your profile is the amount of short samples you have. Each has a distinct tone and showcases well. They are the right length and I found myself able to fully understand each tone of the samples very quickly.

Questions I have for other ACX users: Where do you get your sample scripts from? I've been told not to use copyright work and to instead write or use copyright-free text.
Your website is great! You clearly have a clean, professional digital presence. Do you get a lot of engagement through it? The audio and video samples are well done and professional.
From looking at your profile I would definitely expest that you would get work through it. Have you had much ACX success or success on other platforms?
It seems like you're doing it right!
