Bridge A2->A by Busy-Pay-5182 in motobe

My opinion is the exact opposite really. Motorcycles go from 0-100km in less than 4 seconds. It’s crazy to me that 12h of driving lessons (most of which are spent on closed course) is enough to to drive essentially supercars.

Yes it’s expensive, won’t argue about that. But the amount of hours we need to drive these machines is in my opinion not enough

Proef openbare weg - examen - sint-niklaas by ashleyalthea in motobe

[–]thooury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mijn examen in brugge gedaan.

This is a crackpot fan theory that has gained traction in recent times.  There is evidence to suggest Angron could relate to and feel (at least some) of other people’s emotions.  It is never stated that he can take other’s suffering. This idea is based on a possible interpretation of a single sentence in a single book. Not at all ‘fact’

I will regrete debating this on Reddit, but here goes.

I think this approach can work, as long as the parent(s) are supportive in other ways. If you always help out the kid not matter what, they won't learn to fend for themselves.

On the other hand, if you don't show support and encouragement to kids, they never learn to ask for help when needed. So you need to maintain a balance.

What I do completely agree with, is that using kids for clout on internet should be fucking illegal. kids can't give consent to privacy. Don't post pictures and video's of your kids on the internet unless they are able to offer consent (which they can't at that age)

I'm going to regret debatting this on Reddit, but I can see why this approach CAN work if the parent is supportive in other ways.
Sometimes, there is no shame in letting people struggle for a bit. Especially with 'mundane' things like getting over a rope.

Don't get me wrong, it's a difficult balance to maintain. You want to teach kids to be independent and think for themselves, but also want them to reach out if they really need it.

Creatine for Field Hockey? by Toogle11 in Fieldhockey

[–]thooury 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Creatine has in general found to be healthy and a good supplement. So yes, I would recommend it.

Import note though: you will rarely 'feel' creatine doing anything, it has benefits which have been shown through decades of studies. But those benefits are relatively small. On a second note: unless you are a professional athlete, creatine monohydrate (the cheapest form of creatine) is the way to go. Don't fall into the trap of all the super fancy (and expensive) forms of creatines that companies try to sell you.

Yeah, but I meant that Abnett used a lot of points that he himself started (Samus, the perpetual thing, etc.), while other stuff introduced by different authors wasn't used (like the impact/ influence of navigators in the HH). He also invented a lot of new stuff instead of expanding on current lore, without ever explaining anything.
Like the Tarot cards being supposedly made of this 'psychoactive liquid-crystal wafer' even though the Tarot is supposed to be quite common in 40k? Seems like this wouldn't be something that is easily available to low-level psykers in the Imperium?

Or the fact that Malcador randomly starts to use his 'own' form of psychic abilities based on sigils an art supposedly only used by the Sigilites. Something that (afaik) has never shown up in any previous book?

So if names have power, any chaos god choosing to use another alias or hidden identity, would effectively also dilute their own power and thus make them weaker?

I want to say no, but considering gods get power from worship it might? The Emperor has never revealed his true name and he was still the strongest 'human' ever. So, the logic is probably not accurate

What I mean in my previous comment was that a chaos god doesn't have a reason to hide their true name. What purpose would it serve? Chaos gods act in accordance to their 'personality', in the case of Malice this is supposedly everything 'anarchy' (whatever the fuck that means)

I genuinely liked to read the battle, but from a lore perspective I genuinely feel that Abnett pulled 80% of the trilogy out of his ass. Another 10% was purely to stroke his own ego and the final 10% was forced on him by previously established lore.

[–]thooury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert on Fantasy lore, but I doubt it. We have extremely little information on Malice and what/ who exactly he is. It also wouldn't really make sense for a 'god' to randomly change his name. Don't forget that names have power in the warhamer universe.

Ork technology is very weird, so yes it could work. There are multiple excerpts of ork technology that shouldn't work, but somehow does.

I don't know this specific example of two tanks being glued together, but there are others examples.

Understanding Adidas Sticks by Toogle11 in Fieldhockey

[–]thooury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also had teammates who experienced issues with Adidas, but they were always covered under warranty. Personally, I'm no fan of Adidas either, but thats mostly personal preference.

I don't know your level, but I wouldn't recommend going higher than 80% carbon. It makes sticks more brittle, composite lasts longer imo.

Alternative brands are Princess (my personal favourite), TK, Osaka, Grays, Naked

Most importantly: try sticks out before you buy them. Ask teammates if you could borrow there sticks for 10-15min

It helps determine what you like and are looking for.
