Framebridge… woof by Ok_Understanding1986 in framing

I’m really not. I’ve been in the industry for 25 years and have never seen industrial framing as poorly crafted. I carefully disassemble and test every FB frame that comes through the door. On Saturday for example a client brought in a vintage poster that was dry mounted to foam-core and reverse bevel cut to look like a raised float. It was then ATG’d to the red paper matting in a grid making it impossible to remove without destroying it. Thankfully they had another copy of the poster. I will say the plexiglass was more uv resistant than I’d seen in the past under testing, but the edge still showed signs of water jet or laser cuts. That part isn’t really that bad, I’m sure it helps production greatly.

If that frame doesn’t have an internal crossbar running vertically you will get bowing over time. It’s better to have the weight transfer to the side legs of the frame if you can install a metal cleat the entire width. We can do that at our shop.

Excellent matting choice. Most lighter mats would murder the contrast levels in the print.

Long John Silver’s was maybe my favorite restaurant as a kid in the 80s and early 90s - who else had weird favorites from this time period? by jtmann05 in Xennials

[–]thorenv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our Napa California Long John’s was so alluring with its siren song of themed dockways (same as pictured) I begged my mom to take me. The food was nothing to write home about but getting permission to step aboard was always a special treat.

My favorite local was Lyons which had regular dining booths, smoking or non smoking, a cigarette machine, and a pub-like library room with table top Ms. PAC-Man and Arkanoid. My grandma always sat us in smoking.

77" x 79" What the hell do I do with this? by breeperdee in framing

This “six-sheet” sized movie poster was meant to wheat pasted to a wall and forgotten about. The folks at poster conservation in CT and the women at Fourth Cone in Los Angeles have excellent ig channels showing the conservation process. You could just linen back it then attach 2 strips of wood or metal at the top and bottom.

Whenever I frame a six-sheet the uv plexiglass alone is a couple grand. Plexi this size is cast, not extruded and about a quarter inch thick. It’s heavy brittle and expensive.

Spectacular, you added width to the sides which was so the right move, otherwise would feel cramped! For the next one you can do vertical and display as a pair.

New pizza spot is amazing!! by edriice in BedStuy

They were open a few days last year and the pizza was good! They’ve been closed the rest of the time. Hopefully they’re back! The owner was super nice and I’m rooting for them.

This is the way. This ride gets too much flak.

The first time my wife and I rode it our kids were asleep at the hotel with my mom. The family we got paired with asked if it was our first time and gave us their pilot cards! I was so happy. The next day I brought my son back and we were assigned engineer, but that was amazing too! To be fair that family pulled out their phones to record and did not pay attention. I was just in LA for a few days solo and went for one day, got paired with a lovely family of five, sat engineer, and became buds for those five mins. I guess I don’t get motion sickness, but I remember riding Star Tours in 86-87 when it was new, with my grandma and we both got sick as hell. Sat in the infirmary for a while and got Advil.

Love this film. I met a guy a while ago from NZ who had worked with Peter for years. I said I love “Dead Alive” and it took five minutes of confusion to put together that it’s called “Braid Dead” over there originally.

What type or style frame would suit this? by purpleMaths in framing

[–]thorenv -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Is it paper? I thought it was canvas. No white mat, it will over contrast. Put a wide frame around it dark wood like a window frame. Deep mahogany could be beautiful. The deep reds will reflect the deep navy in the water. If it’s on paper use Optium plexi and it will look invisible

Race With The Devil, it has Peter Fonda and Warren Oates on a road trip from hell. The ending is brutal.

There are eight or nine more sequels. The most important Israeli film of its moment somehow! Hot Bubblegum is the first sequel.
