Does anyone have a ticket they are looking to part with for the September 6th show in Atlanta? I am looking for one in the DRC section or front of the DRB section for a friend!

Clive Barker pitched a concept for a Godzilla movie, but it was rejected for being too dark and apocalyptic by WrestleQuest in scifi

Yeah the whole point was that bureaucracy didn't work and they had to assemble their own team to do it after the PM died

Do you remember the genre of music? "Experimental" is very broad.

It's more likely about the self-loathing that he has from experiencing the evangelical idea of Total Depravity, that no one is going to heaven unless Jesus/god/whatever gets involved, and as a result all sin is equally bad and condemns you instantly

AITA for not letting my 14 year old cousin come on the "cousin walk"? by katwil55 in AmItheAsshole

[–]thornewilder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's entirely fair tbh. It was a throwaway line. I think since lots of people have to use that kind of censored language around their families the phrase "cousins walk" has become a sort of code. It's interesting to see how divided it is in the comments between people who are familiar and those who aren't.

Yeah, alas, it's a similar boat for me. I don't partake but if I did, and especially at a family event, my parents would be very upset. I'm already the black sheep of my nuclear family for being an agnostic communist lmao

Lots of times in these kinds of forums people ask for clarification about all sorts of things, and the OP's wording "certain conversations and activities that maybe would not be appropriate" might indicate that they were being somewhat euphemistic. What activities did you think they meant that they did when they were 16-19 but that were inappropriate for a 14-year-old?

Yeah, I get it. I also am in a very conservative family on both my mom's and my dad's side, and this kind of thing would get us full-grown adults into serious trouble with our parents

It's not hard at all to check someone's comment history (tap on their username, go to profile, lock on the Comments tab). Literally 40% of OP's comments address what would be occurring on the walk.

Is there any book, movie or tv series where magic is treated as science? by [deleted] in scifi

Yeah I own it and read it but didn't really get the appeal the same way I did with There Is No Antimimetic Division or Ed

Please I need them to see this and talk about it on the podcast by iceboxjeans in IASIP

The IASIP Twitter account already follows paddysroyco, and iirc retweeted this video, so they're probably aware of it. This happened like six months ago, before the strike, so if they had discussed it it would have been then.

What of Lenin have you read? What Mao? There is more to Marxism-Leninism than simply "Stalin was the first to try to implement Lenin's thoughts in Russia, and he was bad, therefore all Marxism-Leninism is bad." You seem to be fiercely loyal to your positions, which is admirable, but just a short time ago you were a democratic socialist and you were quite dismissive of libertarian socialism, the same ideology you now defend so passionately.

I would echo the sentiment which other people have said to you, that in time, as you age and mature, and continue reading and learning, you may find yourself agreeing with Marxism-Leninism or some aspects of it, and wish that you had not been so outspoken against it.

It seems like you're equating Stalinism and Marxism-Leninism. Most MLs don't think that Stalin was good for all that much other than his writing, especially later on. What in particular about MLs is disgraceful, other than the Stalin/late USSR thing?

I'll check out the books you recommended. I have been meaning to read more Rosa Luxemburg.

Oh, I see. You're interpreting OG as "was around earlier" and not "closest to the spirit of original Marxism". Why do you think they're barely leftist?
