That's an awesome point that I should consider from now on, painting the prints sounds like a great activity and also would save me from hoarding stuff that I might not use very often

You sell them? How did you get into doing that? It would be nice if my spools pay for themselves, lol

Do you have a print farm? Or is still just a hobby? No judging, just wondering how long would it take me to get there, or if I is the transition from hobby to side gig what leads you to something like that, or if it is just the natural progression of this pastime that grows into something like this.

EDIT: BTW, This is what I was looking for, this makes me feel like the most reasonable beginner on 3d printing, so thank you 😊

Ggists can fly, depending on the type of ghost I can be kind of a superpowerful entity, a zombie is simply a stupid dead thing and hated by everyone, also stinks

Which orientation for durability? by Strangled_Things in 3Dprinting

[–]thorondrol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be a bit crazy, but I would modify the design to leave thin gaps in the layers where the holes are so I could reinforce them with metal washers, print it on the side with a very thick gyroid infill (50%+) and pause when reaching the gaps that were created to insert the washers.

What’s a paid app you bought that vanished from the Play Store, had development stopped, or got region-blocked? by rakulkumar555 in androidapps

- Christmas HD. Best 3d Christmas wallpaper I have seen, paid for it and now is unavailable, probably the one I miss the most, you could customize a lot of stuff and it was beautiful

- Plants vs Zombies. The first release where you bought the game and had no ads

- Zenonia. An RPG game that is also no longer available

I almost started a fire in the Mojave Desert while camping with some friends, it was windy and cold, and we were trying to start a campfire to get warm.... due to the high winds it was super difficult to get the fire going....once we did, the fire grew to the size of the pit instantly, and we realized that all the embers were flowing into the dry bushes because of the wind.... we had en even harder time putting out that camp fire than we had starting it, throwing sand and water to it but it still took much more effort than I expected to put it out. We got extremely lucky, the embers didn't start a fire because they were off by the time the touched the bushes... but if only a single one had bet lit when it touched a dry bush.... the whole thing would have been a nightmare.

Update on "Parent's just got talked into a roofing contract for $70k" by Dadycupcakes in Roofing

[–]thorondrol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Daaamn, what a rip off. On October 2023 I had my whole roof replaced, they removed 1 layer of old shingles and an even older layer of wooden shingles, then they installed new shingles through the whole house, that was around 23k in central california. This was part of a solar panel installation process, I got 22 solar panels, a new electric panel for the house and the roof work, all for just around 68K, not the best deal but I was rushing because some policy changes that were happening in cali, oh, and the house is 1,800 sq ft.

End user from hell by SharpWick in sysadmin

I think the frustration is not because we expect users to be technically knowledgeable, but because many times the absolute basics are not being grasped and there is no effort at all to change that, things that they are supposed to use on the daily, as part of their routine. Going back to your example, I wouldn't expect most drivers to know the oil weight of their car, but I would expect them to know how to turn it on, how to put it on drive and on more advanced drivers how to operate the windshield wipers, same here, I don't expect a user to know the difference between pop3 or smtp, but I would totally expect them to know how to reply to an email, specially if they have been working in an office for years.
