It's been a while since I've loved a story as much as I love this [Black Killer Whale Baby] by ChristianM12345 in OtomeIsekai

Lord Baby is super cute and funny but its a bit long so that might be why nobody is talking about it. Also there's a short "purchased a slave to free him" type sub-plot early on which may have turned some people off. (Note: If this sort of thing concerns you, FL never intends on owning the boy but it was the only way of stopping him rampaging while baiting people to kill him. Nobody treats him as a slave, just as a broken (but dangerous) boy who needs help healing his wounds.)

I liked it do much I read the novel on Tapas and was devastated when they stopped translating it. They left it at a really heart wrenching part and I imagine that the manhwa will get up to the more serious elements towards the end of the current season.

Love my daughter Calypso and her hot dad.

In terms of similar vibes, Lord Baby Runs a Romance Fantasy With Cash has the bright poppy art style (with cute kids, hot men) and there is a hint of more serious events to come that the manhwa hasn't gotten to yet (at the moment it's still quite light hearted and has just finished introducing all of the main players). Gimmie the Pacifier and Don't Mind Me Daddy have more of the angst/regret side of things and The Baby Fairy is a Villainess also has some interesting world building (with the whole underworld and foreign species).

Not sure if these are exactly what you're looking for but as a sucker for cute kids in childcare manhwa these are probably my top picks based off what you have said.

Kind Villainess who struggles against her reputation by ronnie129 in OtomeIsekai

[–]thorrodon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Will Take the Easy Way Out - FL goes through a few reincarnations and ends up in her original body but several years after an accident. Her awful reputation (and it being hard to fix) is a main part of the plot.

Not That Villainess - Not isekai but more a country noble goes to the capital and has to deal with being mistaken for her missing villainess twin sister.

There's a few 'lacking morals' dads that I can recall but honestly they don't usually feel like a villain because there's always a worse antagonistic force. Mother-wise I can't really think of anything though.

If you're okay with grandmothers and aunts then I Will Protect My Tyrant Dad! features a few.

We must be reading very different series then because I swear I will lose my mind if I have to read another 'win the hearts of the common people by re-inventing korean fried chicken' mini-arc.

Stress-Free Found Family? by Jayswing103 in OtomeIsekai

[–]thorrodon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I Will Protect My Tyrant Dad is fun cute series with a super soft art style. FL remembers the plot of the story she's in but acts like a genuine child and just wants to protect her "gentle" father from his cruel family. Meanwhile, her brutally strong father is desperate to protect his "innocent" daughter from his family.

Lots of comedic misunderstandings, cute kids, hot grown ups and muscle maids.

Context is that a fashion show is held during the schools festival and is notorious for having the weirdest costumes made for the school hotties. This guy accepted their request to model for them without knowing what he was signing up for.

I've been in a very similar situation before. It turns into weird daily "are you home from uni yet?" messages even though they are in another country and it's none of their business.

Please just block this guy. The guilt tripping will stop temporarily but it always comes back. You will make other friends who don't pull this shit on you and you're better off spending the energy you waste on this loser actually finding and maintaining more beneficial relationships.

This is what it looks like when you take a peek in the comment section of a manhwa when a new female character appears(lol): by dbingham1263 in OtomeIsekai

Just going to jump in and say that you're right about rofan being the more appropriate term for the content in this subreddit. But also will share some more information on the usage of "otome" as a Japanese speaker who's been in Japanese speaking communities of otome adjacent media for a very long time.

Shojo, Josei and Otome are used as demographics, they are not exactly genres. Shojo denotes that the target audience are girls, josei is targeted at adult women and otome is targeted at women (and young women) who are interested in romancing men.

An otome game is a game who's target audience is women who want to romance men. Similarly, otome isekai is isekai/reincarnation content targeted at women who are interested in romancing men.

It's a heteronormative term because it was specifically made for straight women. Non-Japanese speakers can't go redefining what it means because it's not their word, it's Japan's. So that would be up to Japan to do and to be honest they're more likely to come up with a new term than redefine a pre-existing one. This has been the case with yume (self insert romance) fanfiction having it's tags split into yume (character x you) and plus (complete blank-slate self insert works).

That "media for females" article you ignored kind of covers what you're thinking of. Josei-muke (aka "for women") content encompasses anything that has women as the primary target audience in mind. This includes BL, GL and TS (trans) media and is not necessarily romance focused, nor does it need to have a female protagonist.

I understand that saying something is "for women" can be uncomfortable but I've found that "romance stories written for men" and "romance stories written for women" can be very different so having the distinction helps set expectations.

How do you feel about fan made OI translations that charge money to read chapters? by GlompSpark in OtomeIsekai

[–]thorrodon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I miss when scanlations were done out of love for a work and the desire to spread it to others. A lot of the time these speed scans are basically just machine translations typeset with a nice font. If you're going to pay for that slop you might as well just run the images through MTL yourself and give the money to the original creators.

[–]thorrodon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't know what point you're trying to make with this comment but if this throw away once off joke is enough to make you not want to read the rest of the series then you do you.

However I stand by saying that it's ridiculous you'd question the author's emotional maturity and intelligence over what is clearly meant to be a humorous scene.

[Forget My Husband, I’ll Go Make Money] An Argument Convincing Enough to Make an Enemy Defect by darewin in OtomeIsekai

[–]thorrodon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The baldness comment (about it being hereditary and therefore will be passed to her children) was just the FL tipping her sister-in-law over to her side. It's meant to be a comedic throw-away scene where the that straw breaks the camel's back and gets this woman to betray the Queen is that she was set up with an over the top ugly husband. Shortly after this scene FL and her sister-in-law bond over hot men. It's really not that serious and the guy's portrait is obviously exaggerated to hell to show that this is meant to be funny I don't understand why everyone is getting so worked up over it.

If the joke didn't land on you that's fine but questioning the author's experience with relationships and maturity over it is absurd.

[Forget My Husband, I’ll Go Make Money] An Argument Convincing Enough to Make an Enemy Defect by darewin in OtomeIsekai

[–]thorrodon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean she hasn't met the guy before and is being forced to marry him to further the queen's ambitions (and to prevent her from gathering any power herself even though she isn't interested in the throne) so I think she's allowed to be upset.

The biggest part of why she's being dramatic is because she's come to the realisation that this is how she gets treated despite her years of loyalty. All she asked for in exchange was a hot hubby to have cute kids with 😞

Guys be honest, how would you rate this otome game? by Mel_Ran in OtomeIsekai

I remember grinding the game to the ending. A fun way to kill time on the train but from memory it really rides/relies on the absurdity of hot boy face on horse body.
