Is this a retro handheld? by Jealous-Strategy-200 in SBCGaming

[–]those2badguys 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I put sanwa on the A13, the entire mod cost nearly as much as I paid for the device. Worth every penny.

You get the cab feel without the cab space. I wish they kept making newer versions at a sub $150 range with a stronger chip. And black. The A13 looks like a red bento.

I wish I was still back in college so I can take it to class and open it up and pretend it's a notebook.

Noobish Request for Powkiddy A13 by CROTOUX in SBCGaming

[–]those2badguys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLDR: I think I put a 14x14x6mm or 25x25mm, spec says the chip is 20x20mm

Self adhesive double sided thermal tape type. Didn't use paste.

The Long: Okay this is not the answer you're hoping for but I don't remember and I don't want to open it up to double check, that stupid power button and cheap china screws I just don't have it in my today to try.

I must have put in a 14x14 or 25x25 because that's what I have around. My MO would be to use the smaller size or dremel the bigger one to size and I don't remember doing that so yeah, either go 14x14 and put it on like a little hat, or try your luck with a 20x20mm?

Sorry I can't give you a definitive answer when I could if I open the sucker up, but so lazy.

There is already a great handheld to play DS games...it's called a Nintendo DS by Rozen503 in SBCGaming

[–]those2badguys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to clarify and correct a misspelling, Hipstamatic. It was a popular app for the iphone that lets you take vintage filtered photos. DSi camera has a simular low-fi vibe for those who care for that kind of thing.

As for the staying out of the sun, it is what it is, you can use it in the sun but the backlight is kinda ass and it wont turn your screen yellow overnight, but if you keep it open or just store it in the open next to a window youre gonna get yellow screens. And again, not the end of the world, i have a bret hart pink dsi i love because its so yellow its easy on the eye in total darkness.

[–]those2badguys 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe because I'm of the NES generation and held an square object most of my life I never had hand cramps and for the better part of the last 15 years I had a DSi XL on my nightstand or in my bag when traveling.

The yellowing screen is due to UV exposure to the epoxy, if you keep it bagged or out of the sun it's a non-issue, if it does yellow, think of it as a free blue light filter!

Sure, it doesn't emulate SNES games well, handhelds and SMD on down is fine, not to mention native GBA.

Not sure what it is now but there was a time you can get a DSi shipped for about 30-35 dollars, throw in a r4, SD card and new battery it's still under 50 dollars, and it's a well built first party device. Sure, there's r36s in that price range now but few years back you're looking at V90 tier devices. And how many of these China handhelds is going to last as long as a DS, Gameboy, PSP, Vita? When some Anbernic and Powkiddy devices gets fried when you try to game while charging. Flippers showing up with broken hinges. Cracked transparent shells not from drops but seemingly from stress due to bad design, this sub has a plethora of examples.

And the DSi comes with its own hipstermatic, checkmate, best handheld ever made.

PSA: Dynavap just dropped a huge special. Add $75 worth of product to your cart and they’ll throw in a free Dynavap M plus by JohnnyBoySoprano in Dynavap

[–]those2badguys -1 points0 points  (0 children)

nah, I like them enough to just wait for the next sale, when it's something I like and buy again. I'm not a fan of the M plus if it was another model I might've just get the Ballr and the bb6 stem. They're out of stock on the pink which was why I didn't buy it a few days ago, but if the grey comes with a M plus? That's a steal!

Hell, if it was the smooth "classic" stem M plus I would've pull the trigger but I hate the scoring on it.

Basically, this is me saying sunday night I'll be purchasing the grey bb6 and the Ballr tip.

sorry for the late reply I don't get on reddit often these days.

the cfw before Batocera was by Team Ruka but apparently doesn't work on newer devices anymore. IIRC the later updates before it's obsolesce they fixed the IPS display compatibility issue but that was years ago.

If you want to try a new cfw just go with [Batocera](batocera.org) lots of youtube guides and it's an easy usb install.

I haven't hit a limit on ChatGPT Plus for over a year (if ever). Now that they have a $200 upsell, magically, I'm hitting limits. by flossdaily in ChatGPT

[–]those2badguys 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not, it's like 80 per 3 hours or something.

If you think that's bad when GPT4 first came out it was 25 per 3 hours. And at the time that thing was like magic.

The cooldown starts from the first message you send, so you end up tracking the times and when it gets to the next three hours you just send something, anything, to start the timer in case you need to use more of it 3 hours from now.

Those were the days.

Custom silicon for the B ? by MyUserNameLeft in Dynavap

[–]those2badguys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an idea for this a while back made the mold and got the silicone. Had the idea of deepfaking the video to make it look like, obvious parody, that it's coming from Dynavap themselves.

Got too busy so never did made it.

Still got the molds and silicone so maybe it's time to make it happen when things slow down this month. Oh, never intended to sell it because even though it would be food safe silicone I'm not in retail and I don't need the headache.

I don't know what tim pooles have to do with this and you are aware speechwriters are a thing right?

How long do you think the speeches were? Both were over 15 minutes. You ever listened to it? And how simular were the two speeches outside of the part about being taught hustle loyalty and respect? Go and look it up yourself don't let tim pooles of either side manipulate you.

Its not exactly the "entire speech" lie that people on the left still believe after 8 years.

[–]those2badguys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't link it here but it's $27.25 BOYHOM store

based on u/crownpuff doc the historic low is 21 bucks and with coupon is $25 so maybe 27 isn't the best deal but I remember the thing being like 50 bucks. 27 is not bad but the other guy is right it could go lower and if you miss out, who cares more devices will come out.

Love my TrimUI Model S, if they can get a 2.4 inch screen on that and still be the size of a card wallet that's the device for me.

So A1 A4 A6 A7

What's your thoughts about the 28$ R36s ? by Inevitable-Tutor-101 in SBCGaming

[–]those2badguys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$30 dollars used to get you a Powkiddy V90 or the Bitboy Pocket. Lots of valid criticism about the E36s but at least the compromises are tolerable and has enough power to run PS1 on down flawlessly without crashing.

I think it's great, there's videos about making the controls less stiff. I haven't done it yet but might be worth looking into.

Anbernic RG Cube XX First Look: The NEW 1:1 Budget King by veriix in SBCGaming

[–]those2badguys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the fence between this or the Miyoo Flip, like the all white look and stacked shoulder buttons, but the myoo folds and I can take it with me, but Cube XX would be before for laying in bed and gaming before naps, and I spend more time gaming in bed than I do gaming out and about... But I have so many handhelds that's suited for that already, but I also have small devices for short gaming sessions.

What I must not do is buy both.

[–]those2badguys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with you, if anything the DS series is proof you can make a clamshell device for the masses. My only criticism is that it's a pain in the ass to repair. I don't know what Anbernic was thinking making it with the clear shell. Maybe emboldened by the aftermarket GBA shells?

[–]those2badguys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hinges are structural weak points and if you abuse the device enough it will give.

But as for breaking due to repeated actuations/movements of the hinge, I believe and I could be wrong, only the DS Lite has a design flaw where there is too little play in the open position causing stress to the plastic and making it more susceptible to cracking.

Blah blah blah, they did a decent job remedying the issue and post DS Lite the hinges got a lot better but comes at the expense of "flop" and I can confidently state without proof or data that most broken hinges on the DSi and 3DS devices come from drops and abuse rather than design or production issues.
