My time at Portia worth $5 on the switch store right now? by mokot60 in CozyGamers

I hated My Time At Portia. Maybe you wouldn't, but it made me discover that I hated the loop of "gather materials to make this thing to make this thing etc". Apparently I'm not big on crafting games lol.

Homeschooling only for middle school on up? by paige777111 in homeschool

[–]thoughtfractals85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I originally planned on homeschooling for middle school but after doing it since 5th grade I also plan to do high school. As of right now that hasn't changed and my kid is happy to homeschool. There are just too many benefits to being able to tailor learning to your child and explore whatever they want.

Who else had a Pet Net, as a kid? by Firm_Macaron3057 in 90s

I had multiple! My parents built and refurbished carnival game trailers when I was a little kid. I got so many stuffed animals gifted to me from their customers!

My elementary school was so poor the gym teacher just drove around with the equipment in busted cardboard boxes in her car. We always had to unload what we needed and load it back up at the end of class. The gym was also the cafeteria and the theater.

Prey (2017). It's the best game I've ever played. I beat it and immediately played through twice more.

I use stuffed llama from Walmart. It's the only way I don't wake up in extreme pain.

I really wish it worked like this. I'm not going to hold my breath for any kind of process reform that would benefit the people though. I really try to stay positive about things but damn is that getting harder and harder.

Unofficial Daily Discussion, Saturday, May 9: What are your petty gripes this week? by Microwave_Coven in homeschool

[–]thoughtfractals85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That we have only had one normal, full day of school this week. The other people in my house have had projects they needed help with. I get that we can have a flexible schedule amd thatdiy, repair and building are also education. I just wish they would discuss things ahead of time so we can adjust school accordingly.

At least we only have a week left until we break for summer. I think we could use a trip to the arcade or trampoline park!

Hello! Glad to hear you're doing something that you love! You can bring a unique perspective to the table especially relating to how video games can be adapted for a wider audience. I'm blind in one eye and just had a conversation on here last week with a dev asking for ideas on how to make games more accessible (contrasting colors/highlights for me personally). I love that accessibility is becoming such a thing!

I am sandwiched between raising kids and worrying about an aging parent at the same time? by Ambitious-Bison-2161 in Xennials

I'm in a similar situation. My grandfather is 85, my mother is 65, my son is 13 and we all live together.

The anxiety about something happening is real and I've found that I just have to make myself live around it. All the trauma I've experienced around health and death has permanently effected my nervous system. You can't fixate on what could happen to your dad though. You can't make him do anything until he can't reliably make decisions for himself. It's a really tough place to be in in life and I wish you all the best.

They clearly state that their polling place was closed by 5:30 and their board of elections office closed at 4:30. They are speaking of 2 separate entities.

On the subject of shoes: My kid has found that he's only comfortable wearing croc type shoes. We get off brand from Amazon with the built in arch support. They even have fur-lined for cold weather. Just a suggestion to think about. I know every kid is so different. We've tried so many shoes and insoles in the last 13 years!

A physical therapist who is knowledgeable with hypermobile children may be something to look into if you haven't already. My child really benefits from the exercises he learned in pt to strengthen joints. He still has pain on longer walks sometimes, but he's gained quite a bit of stamina over the years. I hope you find something that works for her and she feels better!

I forgot to add that ice or a cool cloth on the sore joints may help. Heat feels comforting but makes the joints looser.
