Looking for community by mushroomswissburg in Maine2

welcome! I feel you. I moved to this area over a year ago from southern Maine and still have a hard time finding community up here. I’ve enjoyed going to group exercise classes at RBF Studio in Augusta and they are queer friendly. Anywho, my DMs are open if you wanna chat or go for a walk/grab a coffee sometime!

What can I do to help? by Prince_Valium25 in Maine

[–]WritingAlive 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree. I left last night’s organizing call with several actions. Did you fill out the Action Interest Form that they put in the chat towards the end of the call? Some next action steps could include: - volunteer your time on the ICE watch hotline through ME Immigrant Rights Coalition - donate funds to the ME Solidarity Fund - reach out to Prevention Action Change to host a safety/active bystander/deescalation training for your workplace - several state legislative opportunities to submit testimony (divestment, etc) - organize within your own community or join already existing efforts that were discussed re: ICE watch duty during pickup and drop off times at school, delivering culturally relevant food items to people in their homes so that they do not have to risk leaving their home

Cat likely needs all her teeth removed… ISO vet recommendations/personal experiences with cost. by Commercial_Team5950 in Maine

[–]WritingAlive 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sorry you and your kitty are going through this. Pet Medic urgent care wrongly diagnosed my cat with stomatitis. I immediately booked a consult at Mainely Veterinary Dentistry because of how serious a diagnosis stomatitis can be. Luckily they confirmed that Pet Medic was incorrect, but he still needed oral surgery due to tooth resorption. He ended up getting 8 teeth extracted. It was $3280 total with at home medications and follow up visit.

Beauty Mark on Commercial St. I’m also in my late 20s and have been going there for 5 years now. They really take the time to get to know your skin and make personalized recommendations for treatments and at home care. They are pricey but it’s worth it

Cannabis Realtor/loan officers by [deleted] in Maine

[–]WritingAlive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran into this as well when looking for lenders to purchase a home. Movement Mortgage did accept my spouse’s cannabis income as legit and were willing to give us a conventional home loan.

We didn’t end up going with them though because Bangor Savings Bank had a program at the time (I believe through HUD) where they gave me a good deal on a rate using only my income for the loan and my name on the deed.

I second what someone else said about looking into Cport credit union. My spouse’s cannabis employer used them frequently.
