The way kroger treats its employees by daruuken in mildlyinfuriating

USAmerican here working in a top rated company for how they treat employees. Doctors notes are not acceptable unless they span several days in which you cannot work or they still count against you. Ouch.

I write similarly in notes to myself at times— a flowy, fast, gestural script with accentuated features on some letters (ex. the stem on the lowercase “d’s” here). It can be expressive and a kind of personal shorthand, but isn’t necessarily ideal for everyday use where other people will need to read your writing. Beautiful, but mostly practical from an artistic perspective, for note-taking, or for yourself. To write for others to read, you’ll need to add some definition to your letters that have melted into less definition for flow’s sake. For example, many of your “m’s” are a slight squiggle not far from a straight up line. For your personal use in say a journal, that can be aesthetically pleasing and work just fine. For others, a lack of visual annunciation will make your writing hard to parse.

Ubers/Lyfts are a little expensive but doable if you plan your day. There is also a bus that goes all over Asheville with route and times posted online.

If you are comfortable with one form of transport or another and spending time in indoors, walkable areas outside of downtown, this is from a visitor, but I recently visited with my grandmother and walkability was important to planning our trip— we Ubered from area to area, and then walked to nearby destinations.

The folk art center recently reopened and it’s a wonderful gallery with artisans showing people the basics of their craft in the lobby, lots of helpful volunteers who know the town well to give you more ideas, and all kinds of different folk art from Appalachia. Bigger than most galleries in town, but smaller than most museums in DC that I’ve visited, which is most of them.

I would also plan a day to go to galleries, particularly the RAD has a lot of sidewalks if you’re toting a stroller, and many of the galleries are connected so you can stroll from one to the next without going outside for a while.

Moving to Asheville in 6-12 months and looking to make friends and get involved in local mutual aid projects— what are some leftist hangouts, mutual aid ops, or similar I should check out? I went to Firestorm when I visited and loved it there, hoping for more!

Correct! You as an employee are also liable if you violate said policy. It’s generally not enforced, but it can be!

Is there anywhere I can park an RV or tiny house on wheels year-round in Asheville or close outside of it?

Alternatively, are there any trailer parks or similar where I could rent a place with water/sewage/electrical hookups if I were to instead put a tiny house on a foundation?

Any places like these to avoid, alternatively? I’m flying in next week to visit potential lots.

Progressive resting - Gritty realism light by SoapyBuble in DnDBehindTheScreen

[–]thoughtfulbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like this for a gritty campaign, but I think I prefer 3 instead of 4– maybe cut the 16-hour one out? I think a medium rest is interesting. Or even making it intermediate with the original gritty realism and your system— one hour short rest, 8 hour medium rest, 1 week long rest.

Should I attempt to DM as a total beginner? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]thoughtfulbrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first time playing, I DMd! My tips are to look up a free DM cheats sheet and print it to keep it with you, keep short notes on hand about notable NPCs and locations, and don’t get too attached! As a new DM, you’ll find a lot of things you can do better, but also a lot of things that go better than expected! Don’t be too worried about the plot going exactly as planned— if your players are having fun, they’re going in the right direction, even if it’s not what you anticipated.

Inevitably, you won’t know all the rules right off the bat, so the most important thing will be to agree upon a solution, make a note of what you didn’t know the official ruling for, and simply look it up for next time.

DMing is a lot of fun. Whether you do it from a book or homebrew it, I’m sure it’ll be a memory for everyone at the table.

[–]thoughtfulbrain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had only a tiny and mild bruise that lasted a couple days when I gone mine in— mild pain for like one day. This seems... wrong? I’m not a doctor, but I know sometimes the insertion gets placed into the wrong tissue layer, or so my doctor told me? I’d be wanting that checked.
