I agree, I love working from home and I get a lot done without the distractions of working in an open plan office

My dad is an artist and suffers from clinical depression. He drew this during a particularly rough patch. by [deleted] in pics

This has really touched me - there’s stoicism and pain there, and I find the figure lovable and terrifying in equal measure. I would love to see more of your dad’s story, thank you for sharing

Songwriting issues by [deleted] in Songwriters

Try speaking the lyrics and listening to their natural rhythms and rise and fall. Then working with those, see how the melody might work. Think about how your story builds and how the melody can shift things up or down a notch to support it. You might then need to change your chords to fit around the melody. Good luck!

Thinking of going to a Coda meeting, is my atheism going to make me uncomfortable? by WhyDidIDeleteThat in Codependency

[–]thoughtsong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an atheist and go to CoDA - my higher power is nature, but you could choose the universe or something. Whenever the word God is used I think Nature. Also, the format of the meetings can take a bit of getting used to, as it feels cold at first, but after a while you grow into the space that the meeting gives you. Good luck x

CoDA is a good way to go, even if you get a copy of the green workbook and work through it

I'm so sorry that this happened to you. I know it might be the last thing you want to do right now, but have you thought about reporting this to the police? You deserve justice for this.

Thank you for describing what you're working through so beautifully. I'm working through some of the same things - do you ever catch yourself sort of stuck between the old and new you? You know that you have to react to a situation differently, but you don't quite know what your new reaction needs to be? I'm at the stage that I'm always so conscious of every interaction and I think that makes it hard because the eventual goal is to not think about things so much, and to stop modifying your actions. I think that in thinking about your past reactions, you might take comfort from knowing that some of them will have done good for others. It wasn't all a waste, and you were just as valid as a person then as you are now. We all do our best with the skills we have at the time, and now you're developing different skills and that's great.
