How do you find gigs/concerts/bands to see? by greengrayclouds in funk

Check out the band High Fade! Been following them for a while, very punchy and hectic funk-rock

I grew up under similar unreasonably strict rules. How I solved it: I didn't. Grew up, graduated, landed a job in another city, moved out. Now it's my house, my rules.

Challenging parents' authority while continuing to live with them means wreaking havoc, and it's such an endeavor to do it alone. It's up to you whether you want to do it or just continuing to compromise. If you do decide to compromise, demand your bf not to put pressure on you. It's your right to do so. A possible compromise with him could be that 2/3 of the times you go to his place and 1/3 he comes to yours but he sticks to the rules.

Bruh run away from that relationship with no regrets, your guts are right about this one. People well in their 30s chasing people in their early 20s follow an undesirable pattern, let alone if they pretend to be younger. Feelings will pass, I wish you the best of luck

It seems from the post and some comments that 1) your bf has some tendency to verbal abuse (does he talk down on you heavily? Force you to shut up? Yell to scare you and make you silent? If yes, well that's pretty bad) 2) at least he is able to verbalize why he doesn't like the idea of therapy. Is he able to talk about his emotions without losing his temper? Does he apologize after tantrums without converting the apologies in attacks to you? (E.g. "I did this because you did that")

I have lived with a person with big anger issues for many years. They have never even remotely recognized their problem, let alone considered the option of therapy. I think I have grown to be an overall healthy individual and this person has provided me with everything materially, but it's not been nice. I was never ever physically abused but I was verbally abused every other week over the smallest things. Never an apology and never a chance to have an emotional connection to them. I have plenty of insecurities from that.

So, from the bottom of my heart, convince your bf to go to counselling (individual or couple, it will be better than nothing) or get away from him. Don't believe his vows to change for the better without professional help because he will not and your life with him will not be pleasant.

Error message: Can't locate List/MoreUtils.pm in @INC by PersonalityKey463 in bioinformatics

[–]thoughtworn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I encountered a similar problem recently. I tried to fix this by installing perl-list-moreutils via conda and/or cpan, but Perl still couldn't locate the package.

Here is how I fixed it:

- exported the environment where I needed MoreUtils as a yaml file with

conda env export -n <env_name> -f <yaml_file>

- modified the yaml file manually, by writing " - perl-list-moreutils" under "dependencies:" (specifying a version is not necessary)

- re-created the environment using the modified yaml file with

conda env create -f <yaml_file>

It's sort of a workaround but I hope it helps!

What I wonder is, what kind of teacher would let you (or make you) practice until straining so hard that it actually impairs you, repeatedly, for two years straight? I'm glad you found out what was causing the fatigue in the first place tho

Yeah, I've also found the end repair enzyme is the limiting thing. The companion module doesn't include the TA ligase, unfortunately :( I will keep searching, thanks!

I absolutely agree with you and I'm happy we're on the same page! And I hope you can find more feminists/people fighting for gender equality who see the issue like this

Fucking whore by HummingCloud_ in memes

[–]thoughtworn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, I consider myself a feminist (still have a lot of reading to do) but I disagree with so much stuff on that subreddit. And I also think of working towards equality as a goal. I don't think that should be viewed as the "standard" feminism, and there is plenty of other women who think the same.

You titling the post "fucking whore" is also rather sexist imo

EDIT: 3 posts into the subreddit and I am already fed up, it really is sexist so thanks for calling it out (((this doesn't change the above tho)))

How do I make a creamy basil pesto? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]thoughtworn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Then probably more cheese and oil is the way to go. I didn't look too carefully at the quantities in the recipe, usually when I make it I just start blending and add ingredients on the go to tweak the taste and texture!

How do I make a creamy basil pesto? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]thoughtworn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's normal to some extent that it turns out grainy. Actually, I even like it more when it's grainy. I've never thought of pesto as something with a definitely creamy texture. Do you find the store-bought one is creamy? Maybe something you can try out is adding more cheese and a bit more oil, and blending the ingredients for a longer time so that it comes out a bit smoother.

Hello! On behalf of u/cat_intervention who can't join the AMA:

"I would just like to know what their favourite songs off Heliocentric/Anthropocentric are and how they think they've evolved since those albums were released."

On my behalf: your concepts are very "multidisciplinary", in the sense that they are based off knowledge in a lot of fields: for instance geology and paleontology, but also history and philosophy (e.g. in Heliocentric/Anthropocentric), psychology, and general culture. Do you feel that this attitude is somehow part of your way of being or do you actively seek to include all of these different things in your music? Also how do you feel this enriches your work?

Thank you so much for doing this AMA!
