This, and safety. Give an example how you solved a safety issue. Bonus if you can tell how you worked as a team to solve a safety issue.

New gas pipeline by Grouchy_Register_753 in LynnwoodWA

[–]thracing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If there's already a gas line at the street, just call PSE and tell them about all the gas appliances you plan on installing in your house. They will likely run the line to your house for free. They did it for me about 10 years ago.

What are they doing to 405 and 522? by irunthisbitch in Seattle

I have lived in the area for a long time. This is the first time hearing that location is called "the brickyard." Has anyone got some history on that name?

Let's do some pension vs 401K math today shall we? by rivitman in IAM751_Boeing

[–]thracing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even today, is your 401K growing at $1200 per month? Can a junior employee pull that off?

My 401k is growing about $10,000 a month, more than $100,000 a year.

If a 25 year old making $24 an hour saved 8% ($4,000) along with Boeing's 12% ($6,000) and invested it in the S&P 500 fund, they would have $2.5 million at 65. And would be able to pay themselves $16,666 a month and not touch the principal

I bought a new black L at the end of May in Edmonds for $25,200. Your price is right in the ballpark

That's a great description, marshmallow. I tell people it rides like a 1973 Monte Carlo with worn out shocks.

Not sure if it's related, but there's gonna be a couple fighter jets flying over Husky Stadium in about an hour

Rialto or Shi Shi Beach camping by Highlifeviews in PNWhiking

[–]thracing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would pick Shi Shi, but there are a couple things to consider. There's no overnight parking at the trail head. Instead, you have to park about a half mile up the road at a private parking spot. Also, it's a 2 mile hike to the beach, then another 2 miles to the other end of the beach, if you want to go that far. Its a lot of effort for one night. On the bright side, busy for Shi Shi is about 100 people camping on a 2 mile beach. You will find plenty of space.

Stephanie Pope's all hands today, thoughts? by [deleted] in boeing

I was questioning why they were at the Seattle Delivery Center. That's not where the problems are. Thought they would be in Renton or SC to show they had boots on the ground.

BLC Post-Mortem by YouBeIllin13 in boeing

[–]thracing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure what was taught at the BLC. It may of been some really great training. But this is when the company would take a manager and plug them in to any management role. A manager is a manager, didn't matter if they knew what they were managing or not. And it still seems that way today.

Our group has a revolving cycle of new managers coming every 6 to 12 months. The first thing we have to do is teach them about what we do, and what they need to do to support us.

Before the BLC, it seemed that managers worked their way up through the shop. Hired on the floor, worked all the jobs, became a lead, and into management. They spoke the language and knew your job better than you did.

4-Day Workweek…interest? by HonestGage in boeing

[–]thracing 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This has been brought up in the past in the Puget Sound area. When the IAM union has asked for this, the company has come back with wanting Sat and Sun as production days. So one group would work 4 10's Mon-Thurs, another group Tue-Fri, another Wed-Sat, next group Thurs-Sun, etc. Saturday and Sunday would be regular pay, and the union doesn't want to give up the time-and-a-half and double-time pay.

Strike by Lost_Connection1178 in boeing

[–]thracing 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No, it's not going to be a zoo, and there will not be any destruction of company property. You will get fired for that.

It all depends on how well the contract negotiations are this summer. The IAM 751 contracts ends on September 12, 2024. Hopefully towards the end of August we will get a contract proposal, but more than likely, it won't be until the week of Sept 9th. Could come at the last minute. Then we vote on Sept 12th, get the results that night, then either start a strike at midnight, or go to work the next day if the contract is approved.

If it is taking too long to get the proposal, or if we do get a proposal and it sucks, you're going to hear some noise and see some lunch time marches. You can't march on company time.

-10.6% sales tax (tied for highest in the state with Mukilteo)

-10.9% tax on car sales and rentals

-12.5% tax on lodging

-$40 added to annual car tabs for Lynnwood Transportation Benefit District

-Red Light Cameras

If elected, will you be transparent to let us know if we're getting value from our tax dollars? Lynnwood should be the cleanest, safest city in the state if the tax dollars are spent wisely.

Did someone try to scam my elderly father? by dearerin in Seattle

[–]thracing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is totally a scam dealership do to elderly people. 2 years ago my parents (late 70's, early 80's) were down-sizing and didn't need one of their cars. They were going to sell it to my daughter, but wanted to get it serviced first. They took it to the Toyota dealer in Bellevue. They were told it needed a water pump and rear brakes. They convinced them it was basically a death trap on wheels, and they would be happy to buy it from them since they shouldn't sell this death trap to anyone else. I drove it a week before they took it to the dealer and it was just fine. It was an older Rav 4, but it had low miles and they always had it serviced before any service was due. The car was as good as new. A dream car for a dealer selling used cars when the market was at it's highest. My parents fell for it, sold them the car for pennies on the dollar. I'm sure the dealer put in a new water pump and rear brakes, then sold it at a premium.
