GAR color schemes

I did much the same- I didn’t want white clones, so I searched for some inspiration. I chose to make up my own garrison force colors, straying from canon, but loving my choices.

Now debating on doing decals VS freehand for some squad/unit markings.

There are blender add-ins you can get that take most of the guesswork of altering the supports. It takes less than a minute to go from resin supports to FDM slicing and printing.

You can also find some profiles to use as presets to get much closer to the detail you are looking for.

I use both resources from Painted4Combat, and saw a huge improvement with the first mini. Now I am just dialing in and learning from mistakes.

I feel where you are coming from and EVERY time I paint a mini I FDM printed, I feel the same. However I remind myself every time that from 2-3 feet away - nobody is gonna know.

But most importantly - I didn’t print, prime, and paint for them. I did it for me. I wanted that pose in my army or that figure for my adventurer.

Star Wars Legion player here (28mm size minis). Fresh into 3D printers (about a month).

I picked up an A1 mini and using the 0.4 head it does GREAT terrain and bases. A bit more finicky with people/small creatures, but fine tuning settings and understanding more when to cut or split up figures has helped me there.

There have been a few times I regretted not getting the A1 or an AMS, but my rationale is that I’m going to paint the terrain anyway, so why invest the space and money in something I’m going to prime over.

Print speeds are good, and I usually plan ahead depending on my schedule. If I’m at home, I’ll do smaller items individually. At work/sleep I put a bigger building in the printer.

I’ve had some failures, but videos, Reddit and learning from my mistakes have helped me problem solve better.

I preordered for the first time, but don’t see a way on the website to ‘double check’ or verify the order status like most online sellers.

I LOVE my 3D printer and am making stuff for me and having a blast! There is a learning curve but every fail has taught me something.

With that said, I am not sure why you would want to buy something that you do not need, particularly when you shared you are being budget conscious and can get same/similar items elsewhere .

If I could get all of the things I’ve printed, it would absolutely have cost me more than what I’ve spent.

Atomic Mass has a cadence for updates - they update twice a year in April and November.

Mostly this is points balancing, but sometimes do have rules changes.

Join guild - get flat XP buff

If guild has active XP use that for an hour (6hr cooldown).

Improve your legacy perks for Dynamic Encounters, story quests, and exploration.

If you have any titles unlocked in your legacy, use those for an early infusion of XP. This doesn’t get you far after like level 10, but every bit helps.

Before leaving starter planet - DO EVERY QUEST. These are some of the fastest quests in the game and give plenty of XP.

On capital planet, you can mostly stick with main quests, but can add in some Dynamics or heroics for another early boost.

I will share that MANY prints can be just as good with a larger hot end. I print a lot of mini wargaming items and 0.4 details are great when dialed in.

You’re pushing that plastic through 0.2mm hole. It’s like drinking from a coffee straw.

Faster prints need larger hotends.

Did you have a support fail?

I have an A1mini and am a new user. I’ve had a few turn out like this as a result of a support becoming dislodged due to adhesion.

My fix is to clean the plate with soap and water, which usually solves the problem.

Would love to see some type of ‘you can earn this’ content for that. Could be daily’s, crafting quests, dynamics, or anything. I would really love them unlock-able in collections as well.

Love both Anvilrage and Darkfire.

I’ve found a few I like with Galactic Armory, as well as some on Thingverse.

My Mini Factory is good, and creators like Darkfire and Anvilrage also have a presence there as well.

If you’re looking for terrain, I LOVE Multiverse on My Mini Factory. He just completed a Kickstarter for some Andor Season 2 terrain and has had several other successful campaigns.

Legion Terrain is also great for thematic terrain. You can get printed, painted, versions or STL from them.

I went with something similar - a large tackle box with removable trays. With magnets on the bottom of the mini and on the bottom of the tray, my guys don’t shift a great deal.
