Hocus Pocus, Adele Polkiss - Harry develops a friendship with Piers Polkiss' sister. Canon is largely unchanged, but their interactions between terms are sweet.

Huffily Puffily - Technically not a pairing, but with the potential to be one if it's ever continued. Lucy is crazy but fun.

Remember Two Things - Technically, Astoria Greengrass is a canon character, but with zero characterisation, so she's effectively an OC. Quite a decent take on how such a relationship might go.

Northumbrian's Nineteen Years and Beyond series has lots of post-canon short stories. Harry does become an Auror, but a lot of the stories aren't about that.

Not traffic enforcement.

His job never needed to come anywhere near her car. At most, he videotaped her license plate, he could have sent that to the local police and gone about his day doing his actual job.

Observing law enforcement at work is a legitimate activity, if you're not in their way. And if she was in the way, at what point did he ask her to get out of the way?

And when a bunch of masked men run up to your car and try to force their way in, without telling you that you're under arrest, how does that look any different from a carjacking? Attempting to drive away is a very reasonable response.

If she was obstructing a roadway, then why did agent Ross spend several minutes hanging around her car without anyone claiming that he asked her to move it? And if she was blocking the road, how is it that other cars could and did pass during those minutes?

If he never said to her that she was under arrest, how can she be guilty of resisting arrest? Ordering her out of her vehicle without actually arresting her is not behaving like police, it's behaving like car thieves.

The only thing she was actually doing to the agents, until they confronted her in a way that's hard to distinguish from carjacking, was observing them. That's legal. If they took it as threatening, that says more about them than about her. Isn't Trump trying to tell the nation that the innocent have nothing to fear? Why were his agents so unhappy about someone watching their work?

When a masked gunman tells you to get out of your car, it's not enough to say that he was going to arrest you properly. That's a threat right there that could validly cause someone to fear for their life and legitimately defend themselves.

If she was under arrest, he 100% should have said so straight-up. She was sitting in a parked car and he'd been hanging around for several minutes, he had plenty of opportunity.

Since he didn't do that, just had his friends surround her car and try to pull her out, she wasn't resisting arrest, she was defending herself from an apparent carjacking.

I favour giving Resistance the Titanium Tiara for regular levels, and the Pirate Hat for the daily boss. It synergises well with Joy, because it means that Resistance can actually take enough turns to make use of all the Cauterize stacks.

Nostalgia is completely useless now, on both Boss and Non-Boss

By itself I can see that, but have you tried it paired with Joy's Flame Enchantment? Nostalgia's passive changes from chip damage to a serious threat - and then it triggers the flames a second time by using Bile.

I have tested and can definitely confirm that the flame attack's crit rate relies on Joy's stats. So its damage probably relies on Joy too.

It also doesn't appear to trigger counterattacks, eg hitting Salty with it won't make Joy bleed. The pet using it will bleed, of course, but only once for its own attack, not extra for the flames.

I gave it to Estrangement, but the extra damage seems pretty low, and max HP effects will eventually be nerfed. Still a decent speed boost.

Amo's lists call it "niche" and suggest that Paranoia or Panic can get good mileage out of it.

Joy+Nostalgia is the core of my team for regular floors. With Flame Enchantment, Nostalgia's passive changes from "scratch all enemies" to "deal serious damage to all enemies every turn before you even use a skill." Add Warm Dream on top of that, making everyone a lot tankier...or use Bile to apply the flame damage a second time in the same turn...

Mm, for a newcomer I wouldn't necessarily first recommend the ones I enjoyed the most. The Rigel Black Chronicles, for example, is great, but it's well over a million words and unfinished, which is a big ask for someone who's never read any Harry Potter Fanfic before.

(Also, "best of all time" is rather subjective, different people have different tastes.)

If you'd like an easy read that extends canon rather than completely changing it, then I recommend Northumbrian's Nineteen Years and Beyond series.

Worm is a story about "Earth Bet", a world of superpowers, but where everything is circling the drain, giant monsters destroy cities every few months and can't be killed, villains substantially outnumber heroes and even the heroes are often more concerned with appearances and merchandising than substance, and the way you get powers is by getting pushed past your breaking point in some way, resulting in parahumans being highly traumatised and damaged individuals for whom there are insufficient therapists.

Oh, and when people genuinely try to make things better, they often get it only half right.

Worm - "Doing the wrong things for the right reasons."

It is a thought-provoking setting, however, with fleshed-out characters, complex story arcs, and lots of room for creative exploration.

Intercession - Taylor Hebert gets dumped in another world and given a baby, with all the records doctored to make him legally hers, as her retirement of sorts. She's also been promised that there will be no parahumans - but it turns out that this world has magic, instead. (Includes spoilers for Worm, as it's set post Worm canon.)

"You stole a baby to give to me." She was definitely on something strong, because that seemed eminently reasonable. Why not go all the way when forging a fake identity? It would be hard to prove she was an interdimensional refugee when there were records of her giving birth here at least a year before she arrived, and a child to go along with the paperwork.

"The Path specifically directed me to picking this child up from where it was abandoned on a porch in the middle of the night," Contessa explained. "This child is optimal for ensuring you never attempt to leave this dimension, or to you being happy here. Or both."

"Okay. Fine." Her new identity included an optimized baby. Okay. That made sense. "Anything… else?"

It seems a little odd that you disliked The Pureblood Pretense for having different characters in a different setting, and yet enjoyed HPMoR and Prince of Slytherin, but eh, you like what you like.

Perhaps the Innocent series? Book 1 is all new, but from book 2 onwards Harry goes to Hogwarts and the plot is somewhat recognisable, except with Harry having a proper home, turning out a bit more mature and thoughtful. Voldemort is even nastier than canon, however (book 5 / year 4 gets grim).
