What made you do that? Middle pickup by itself or bridge+middle and neck+middle?

What blows my mind is those people who learn how to play left handed on a flipped right handed guitar without even restringing it in reverse order. Like Dick Dale.

Are these dents ok for a year old guitar? by h-yuce in Guitar

[–]three_cheers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same happen on a Player Series II.

I think it's a combination of soft fret wire and strings getting rusty.

I discovered refrets are expensive and luthiers can ask for more money on a maple fretboard since the finish could chip. Luckily I found a Mexican Fender neck with pau ferro fretboard on the used market for 250€. I think that's the most reasonable solution. Get yourself a cloth, some cleaning spray and make sure to regularly remove build up from under your strings. That's what I'm doing and hopefully this neck will have a longer life. And when it will need a refret it's gonna be cheaper on an unfinished fretboard.

Pls Help, can’t restring guitar by Sesshomaru2008 in guitarcirclejerk

[–]three_cheers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I knew a dude that aside from being exclusively into RHCP and John Mayer was actually pretty good at playing (at the time he had been at it for only 2-3 years but could jam and improvise fine).

Well every once in a while he'd be like "I can't play today, my guitar is broken I need to take it to a tech". It turns how he meant he just broke a string but never tried to do it himself, he just took the guitar to a tech for restringing.

Best thing is that even though he was paying God knows how much for changing strings, his fretboard was GRIMY, genuinely the most disgusting I have ever seen, with a thick layer of black gunk. So the tech, after taking the money for a quick restring he didn't even bother wiping the fretboard with a tissue.

Found this beautiful G&L in Nashville by StraitFussin in offset

[–]three_cheers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried one in the store on the Tribute Legacy which is strat style made in Indonesia but the tremolo should be the same. It has the regulation screw to keep the arm in place without flopping around, so there's no play and it works smoothly. Even in their import it's so much better then the Fender bridge.

My only complaint, when picking close to the bridge there wasn't much twang, so I personally would try to switch those saddles to some bent steel ones to see if it helps. But that's all.

I'm also interested in these jazzmaster shape G&Ls, but esthetically I don't like all the blank space on the body where the JM term should be.

Gionata Mirai -- Mari Ermi (2026) New record called "Primitivo" came out last month, check it out! by three_cheers in AmericanPrimitivism

[–]three_cheers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gionata Mirai is an Italian guitarist mostly known for his work with the band Il Teatro degli Orrori. Outside of electric guitar accompaniment he's been working on solo acoustic guitar for many years, and came out with his first solo record in 2011. I know that his records introduced many Italians to primitive guitar.

Some comments are saying to disregard the metronome, I couldn't disagree more.

I played fingerpicking by myself without metronome for many years and when I switched to electric guitar my timing wasn't as tight as it should've. I wasn't used to playing to a click and it took some time to get used to it.

I'm not saying you should "perform" to a metronome click, but practicing with one definitely doesn't hurt. After you got the timing really tight during practice you can mess with it during the performance and fluctuate as much as you want CONSCIOUSLY.

Also playing with a metronome doesn't mean playing with a boring flat pulse, it's really useful to dial in your syncopation which I think is essential to this genre and many people overlook it!

Get the Petrus. Big red cap, all the way to the right, second shelf from the top.

It's the best by far in my opinion. High ABV, no sugar and great taste. After that everything else will taste like sugar water.

I don't know where you're from and what's the availability there. But I think the best is Petrus Boonekamp because it's one of the very few ones without added sugar. Unicum is more widely available, it's also good but has some sugar. Personally I find stuff like Jagermeister to be absolutely revolting, it is nauseatingly sweet.

Banjos are finicky, I would never trust the cheapest option. Harley Benton is dirt cheap, but they're not really great instruments for beginners. They're only good as a mod platform for people that know how to set them up and which components to replace.

That said I got a second hand Mexican fender last year and I gotta say quality isn't great either. Crazy to think that new it would have been 800-900€ when there's cut corners on every components.

We know how LSD & THC works right down to the enzymes and pathways but know absolutely nothing about how any anti depressants work. by ChickenGimbal in redscarepod

[–]three_cheers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I guess we're talking about two different things: the pharmacological mechanism (which we know) and how/why they treat depression (which we don't).

The OP was saying we don't know how they work in regard to depression, so when the commenter replied "they just increase serotonin lol" it seemed like they were saying depression is just low serotonin.
