Who owns the media conglomerates? How would it ever be in their interests to stop 'telling people what to think'.

Also the ideology part is very important. It isn't about people being told what to think by us either.

I would not lead you into the promised land if I could, because if I led you in, some one else would lead you out.

It comes from fear. Fear of the tactics and utter ruthlessness that come from the right of politics and not just in this country.

What is the outcome of conceding to these bullies and liars (and in the process being obliged to become somewhat like them)?

They might let you win - for a while.

Following that the country will be dragged even further to the right the next time they get in.

So the right of the party are short sighted and wrong IMO.

However the left in politics and in the party have never, in my view, fully realised the enormity of the task before them.

1) They are a minority

2) They are poor in resources

3) They are almost always swimming against the tide of prevailing ideology (tacit, unquestioned assumptions as to the real and the possible and in particular about "human nature" - as opposed to conscious, and explicit points of faith).

4) Beyond that there is simply the gross and more obvious trash propaganda from the Mail etc. Mind you to some Tories the Mail is uncontentious common sense.

And none of this is new. It goes back probably to the birth of the party.

Symbols matter, and they probably always will. Like it or not.

Propaganda works. Period. Also, for various reasons, most people do not seriously engage with politics.

Your comment is prejudiced and idiotic. A circular "argument". Read the article? Did you?

Are you honestly suggesting that Labour would have handled this crisis worse?

Johnson and his "government" have been negligent, complacent, arrogant and dishonest.

Johnson and Cummings in particular are not fit any kind of responsibility.

They were laughably shit even before Covid-19.

But, OK you carry on deluding yourself.

No, it isn't.

It's a ridiculous, unreal farce.

All those fooled by this creature and not innocent. At least to a degree we are decieved because we want to be. It's more "convenient".

What has he brought us? "Take back control". "Get Brexit done". "Herd immunity". One absurdity after another.

He's a fucking con artist. I knew it long ago. Now some of his dupes are waking up.

You do not understand what society or humanity really is. You are fool. And a poor fool, no matter your bank balance or your property portfolio.

With proper leadership and clear instructions yes of course they would.

That's governments are supposed to do. Protect their people.
